Congrats to Caitlyn Connolly, Regis MS in ABA ‘20!!
Congratulations Caitlyn Connolly, MS, BCBA on being nominated for this week's Staff Spotlight! Caitlyn, residential coordinator for The New England Center for Children’s (NECC) Higley Road residence, has worked at NECC for five years. She was nominated by a colleague because she “is in a million places at once when she is on shift, whether it’s coaching, supporting, or offering advice. She has so much knowledge of ABA and is always willing to help others around her learn! Caitlyn shows so much love for all of the students and gets so excited to see their progress. She is a perfect example of what it means to show great leadership!”
How long have you worked for NECC?
My five-year anniversary is at the end of August. I started as a teacher and case manager on the day team for two years, and then I moved to West 1 as a core shift manager (CSM).
What is your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of the job is working with the students. I love seeing the progress they make and knowing that I played a small part in helping them get there.
Why did you choose a career in helping children with autism?
I have always enjoyed working with children, and I found out about applied behavior analysis (ABA) in my last year of undergrad. The more I learned about the technologies and principles of ABA, the more I knew I wanted to work with this particular population.
Why NECC?
I came to NECC because I knew it was one of the best places to learn and become a skilled practitioner. I have had great mentors over the years and value the relationships I’ve created with staff and students.
Have you taken advantage of any of the grad programs or teacher training at NECC?
I have not taken advantage of any of the grad programs at NECC, as I was already enrolled in a master’s program for ABA when I started working here. However, I did complete my practicum with an NECC supervisor. I utilize the strategies and skills that I learned during that time every day and to help train new staff.
What is something about you that your colleagues might be surprised to learn?
It may not be super surprising, but I love reading. Fictional worlds are my happy place. Who wouldn’t want to escape to a world with magic and dragons after a long day in reality?
What is your life philosophy or motto you like to live by?
“Sometimes, when things are falling apart, they may actually be falling into place.”
Congrats to Morgan Davis, MS in ABA '20 alum, on her recent publication in Behavior Analysis in Practice based on her thesis research, "Comparing Simultaneous and Sequential Food Presentation to Increase Consumption of Novel Foods." Way to go, Morgan!
💛❤️ Happy Graduation Day to our MS in ABA ’23 graduates!! We are so proud of you all! Go do great things! ❤️💛
