It is not Westport Indiana, Decatur County!

🚧⚠️Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Dave O’Mara contractors is scheduled to close State Road 3 between U.S. 50 and Westport beginning on or after Monday, May 6, to complete an asphalt resurface project in Decatur and Jennings counties.

The closure will take place between U.S. 50 in Jennings County and South Main Street in Westport and is expected to be complete by early November, weather permitting.

Crews will begin to place signage in the area prior to the start of construction. During the closure, motorists should use the official detour route which follows U.S. 50 to U.S. 421 to State Road 46.

Access will initially be maintained for local traffic between U.S. 50 and County Road 500N in Jennings County, until later in the project. Crews plan to begin work between Main Street in Westport and County Road 500N in Jennings County.

All through traffic should utilize the official detour throughout the entirely of the project. Access will be maintained for local residents and farmers.

This project is part of a $9.3 million contract awarded to Dave O’Mara in August 2023. INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution and avoid distractions when traveling in and near work zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.

It’s almost prom day. Here are some answers to some commonly asked questions.

Prom is on Saturday, May 4th beginning at 8 PM at the Venue on 3 in Westport (107 Underwood Dr, Westport, IN 47283). The venue is open for public viewing from 7:00-7:20 PM. Walk-in begins at 7:30 PM. Please see the attached map for line up and parent parking information.

Students please enter the line-up line (purple route) off of Highway 3 from Kentucky Avenue. You can begin lining up starting 7:15 PM, please don’t come before that time. All students need to be at the venue by 8:30 PM.

Parents, please park in the designated area and do not park at the venue. We need all the venue parking for our valet parking for students.

Prom ends at 11:00 PM.

SR-3 to close from the US50 bypass to Westport after the April 8th Eclipse. The current schedule as of now is that the construction signs and closure notice will be placed on March 18th, 2024. The detour route will be posted on April 4th & April 5th. Dave O'Mara contracting will place barricades of closure of State Road 3 on or after April 9th.

Please try to avoid 1100s and the Westport Dam area . Vehicles cannot make it up the the high side road grade, so having to back down the hill. Until road crews get out please drive with caution and avoid this area.
