A lot of clients ask me what my favorite type of massage to give would be. When I was in massage school I thought all I was going to do was sport and injury recovery massage. I thought to myself “I don’t want to just make people relax. That sounds so boring and not like I’m doing anything to actually help people”. However as I have honed in on my skills over the years, I have come to realize that my style is part “let’s focus in and really work this issue” (which DOESNT instantly mean deep tissue) and part “let’s give the nervous system a moment of rest”. There are huge benefits to both styles and what I try to do during every session (unless requested otherwise by a client) is incorporate both. A relaxing massage is just as therapeutic as a targeted massage- it just depends on the client. My job as a massage therapist is to listen to what the client is looking to receive THAT day. And it changes from session to session. I have clients who want deep tissue one day, specific muscle targeting another day, and relaxing during a different session and that’s ok! It makes my job exciting. All I want is the clients’ body to respond in a positive way. I am so glad that I get to work with clients all across the board. It makes me really happy when someone comes out of a session and says “wow my (whatever muscle) feels so much better and I have more range of motion” and it also makes me happy when they say “that’s the most relaxed I’ve felt all month”. It’s all a win for me.

Also just a big shout out to the people who comment on my music/playliat😼… it’s not the “typical” massage playlist and I take a lot of time to pick and choose the songs I add to it so when people say they enjoy it it makes me giddy inside😍

New services at Mile High Massage and Wellness💚

I haven’t done hot stone massage since my days in the spa industry, however I feel like this will be luxurious during the cold days here in Colorado when my hands just don’t seem to warm up fast enough😂 If it’s a big hit, I will keep it year round.

Myofascial Decompression is something I have actually been incorporating into a lot of sessions with clients and they have seen some great benefits. This is something you can add on to any session you book, but I believe I will be making the switch soon to doing sessions of only MFD, so keep your eyes out! Please let me know if you have questions about this service.

And the foot scrub/massage is just something fun I felt would be a little icing on the cake of an already amazing massage service:) it will be fantastic after a long weekend in the mountains whether your snowboarding, skiing, hiking, snowshoeing, or just chillin in a cabin drinkin hot cocoa😍

I thought adding some things to my service menu purely for relaxation would be nice during the winter months when our bodies want to hibernate and we crave the rest and relaxation that we SO deserve.

Here’s a little side of me you won’t see too often on this page😂

I am back and recharged from my festival weekend getaway. It was so much fun to be surrounded so many friends. I even got surprised by my husband, brother in law, and one of my best friends. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience even with the hurricane weather.
Fun fact- When I’m not massaging, I like to get a little crafty. I made all of the hats in this picture! They’re crazy and unique and so much fun to make🪩😎

This is your sign to move your body today! Whether that be weight lifting, hiking, biking, yoga, swimming, dancing, literally anything! 💪🥾🏊‍♀️🧘‍♀️🏋️‍♀️ Just do what makes you feel good today. For me, most days it’s weight training and a long walk. Since covid started I have been working out at home and it just stopped feeling challenging or motivating so I decided to get a gym membership again and could not be happier. I’ve always been a little bit of a gym rat even though life cuts in sometimes and I go through lulls, this is always where I revert back to. Some days I beat myself up because if I just never had to “start over” I’d be lifting way heavier than this picture here, but I like to live life and not be stuck in the gym 24/7 so this is where I’m at right now and I’m okay with it. I just remind myself that it’s all about moving my body in the ways that feel good for me. This will be my last lifting session until next week but I know I’ll be movin, groovin, and massaging so much at the music festival 😎👯‍♀️🪩
one day I’ll feel cool enough in the gym to take videos or pictures of me actually working out but today was not that day😂
Happy healing, happy Wednesday 💜

Mile High Massage and Wellness will be providing massage therapy at the Same Same But Different music festival in California this weekend! This will be my first time doing something like this and to say I’m excited is a massive understatement. Music festivals have always been a big part of my adult life. The dancing, community, camping, and being surrounded by friends for multiple days in a row making countless goofy memories is truly something so special to me. I have been wanting massage at something like this for so long, and to be able to be back with tons of friends of mine back in California will be the icing on the cake.

Will you be there? If you are, stop by my tent for a 30 minute or 60 minute massage! I would love to meet you and help you feel amazing during your festival experience!
🪩Another thing NOT to miss at this festival is the biggest Move and Groove yet! 1000% the most fun I’ve ever had during a yoga class. Class led by my spicy lil mami and disco beats by . Put on by the BEST yoga studio in San Diego . Guaranteed you will be shaking the 🍑 while in downward dog. 100/10 recommend

That being said, I will be out of town September 8-12 so if you are looking for a massage before I leave make sure to book! I only have a few open slots on Wednesday September 7 in the afternoon.💜

Do you have nasty lil trigger points in your shoulders? Lemme help you with that.
I love working on, around, and under scapula to help release the tension that all of us carry around on a day to day basis. Releasing trigger points can help alleviate pain and allow for better range of motion. Book your next massage and cupping service with the link in my bio.
Happy Healing💜

I love the fact that I can’t remember having “a case of the Mondays”. Waking up is so much easier when your days are fulfilling and you truly enjoy what you do for a living. My Monday started off with a 6AM wake up call to head to the gym. Had a great workout, came home and made a delicious breakfast followed by a chiropractic adjustment and a bike ride around Sloan’s Lake soaking up that luscious good morning vitamin D . Now headed into what I know will be an amazing day of massage clients who I love and appreciate so much. Feeling grateful for days like this. Get up, get out, get motivated. Happy Monday everyone 💙

How did you take care of YOU today? Please make sure that today and everyday you do a little something for yourself! That might look like taking a walk, lifting weights, making a delicious meal, meditating, stretching, breath work, getting off social media, getting a massage (😉) and a whole lotta other things.
You can’t pour from an empty cup no matter how hard you try. All of the people around you will be better off if you take care of you first- remember that!

Shout out for the awesome photo shoot at Sloan Lake!🤍book her if you need some great content. She helps you with EVERYTHING from beginning to end!

How do YOU practice self care? It varies between individuals so much. One of my favorite ways to show myself some love is to get out to the mountains. Camping, hiking, giggling with my husband and our dog in a hammock. It clears my mind of all the clutter of day to day life. No or little cell service to check Instagram or my work schedule. It’s important to disconnect in order to reconnect. I came back from this weekend of hiking and camping fresh and ready to take on the week and this new month! Do yourself a favor and give yourself a little love today, whatever that looks like for you! Happy 1st of the month

Walking. I love walking. Anyone that knows me knows this is true. I’m the friend that’s like, “oh it’s only 3 miles? Let’s walk” 🤣 Some of my friends look at me like I have 2 heads. But it’s true. I love it for my own self care. I massage in a very dark room all day, so when I have a couple of free minutes in between clients you can bet that I am outside walking around soaking up that good old Colorado vitamin D. It wakes me up, makes me happy, relieves my stress, boosts my immune system, gets the blood pumping, and I get to smell some flowers and hug some trees along the way. Movement is life and movement is therapy. It doesn’t have to be strenuous to be amazing. Got 5,10,15 + minutes to spare? Put your phone away (which I obviously didn’t do for the sake of this post 🤣) and go take a walk and see how you feel. No walk is too short.

What to do after a massage!
1. Hydrate!
We need water in order to flush out lactic acid and metabolic waste that causes knots and pain. When a muscle is dehydrated it searches for water, and when it can’t find it, the muscle will cling to other muscle tissue instead. Massage therapy is dehydrating. It gets fluid pumping out of the soft tissue and into your circulatory system, and then goes to your kidneys for filtration. Drinking water not only flushes toxins out of your system, but it ensures that all the work your massage therapist does doesn’t go to waste!
2. Book another session! It’s a great way to keep yourself on a good regimen so you don’t forget, and it’s something to look forward too.
3. Rest/relax- do not go do a workout right after! If I have a workout scheduled the day I receive a massage I always do it prior.
4. Light stretches. Stretching helps realign your muscle fibers and improve muscle recovery.
5. Take a nice Epsom salt bath- Epsom salts remove toxins and adds magnesium back into the body for added muscle pain relief. If you’ve received cupping, wait at least 3 hours before going into a bath because your pores are much more opened after getting cupped and you do not want to damage the skin with a hot bath.
6. Be mindful of how your body feels. It’s normal to feel a little sore the day after a deep tissue massage, but you should not be in pain days later- that may mean the massage was too deep and you need to communicate that to the therapist

DO’s and DONT’S during a massage. 💆‍♀️ 💆‍♂️

1. Relax- this is your time. Before the massage therapist gets back into the room, undress to your level of comfort, get under the sheets and start to get into a rested and relaxed mind set.

2. Communicate with the therapist when needed. If you need more or less pressure, let the MT know. I’ve talked to people who say they “feel bad” or “feel awkward” saying that that want less or more pressure during their massage. I promise you the last thing the massage therapist wants is for you to feel uncomfortable. We are literally there to do the opposite- so please, if something needs adjusting- speak up. This is your time, your massage, and your hard earned money that you’re spending, and you deserve to get out of the time what you really need.

3. Stay as loose and relaxed as possible. Let go of the control of your muscles. Try not to “help” the massage therapist. If we need to move a limb, we will. Don’t lift your leg, your arm, your neck. I know it’s probably not even a conscious decision to help, however just try to fully relax into the massage experience. When you engage, you are tightening the muscles which is what we are trying to prevent. We are trained and know how to adjust your body for what we need to be able to do. If you need to make slight adjustments that’s okay, but if we do your assistance, we will ask.

4. If you feel yourself start to tense or get anxious and think about your to-do list or whatever else is going on, go back to your breath. Take a few deeps breaths and relax into the table.

5. Remember to breathe during those time where the massage therapist is getting deep into an adhesion or trigger point. If you breathe in, then hold your breath, it’s difficult to release and relax the muscles. However, if you take a deep breath in, then a long exhale out, your muscles will naturally start to let go and relax. Deep breathing helps to engage the relaxation / parasympathetic nervous system response of the body.

⭐️Review time⭐️
Before owning a business I never really cared to write reviews for companies or business that i visit or regularly go to. But now I understand the importance of people writing their feedback, especially in a service industry position. You will not be everyone’s cup of tea and you have to accept that not every review for your entire career will be ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️perfection, but it makes me so happy that I am able to provide a service that my clients truly enjoy and benefit from on multiple levels. Swipe to see some of my reviews! ✨💆‍♀️💆💆‍♂️

Let’s talk CANNABIDIOL aka CBD
😌
It surprises me that I have massage clients who are still not familiar with CBD- especially where I am in Colorado. CBD has without a doubt been one of the best additions to my own health and wellness routine. CBD is the second most prevalent ingredient in the ma*****na plant and the number one question I get asked when people are unfamiliar with CBD is, “will it get me high?” Haha. To some people’s disappointment, no- CBD alone will not get you high. It is non-psychoactive. When consumed, either by eating it, smoking it, or applying it topically, CBD binds with the neuroreceptors in your endocannabinoid system which sends signals between your cells to help regulate movement, mood, homeostasis and immune system.
Something that I love about CBD is the numerous ways a person can take it and all of the different reasons as to why people take it. For this post I will only go into the specifics of CBD + massage, however CBD is being researched to help people suffering from epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, strokes, cancer, PTSD, addiction, etc.
💆‍♀️Here are some potential CBD Massage benefits💆‍♀️
🪄Reduce tension- CBD helps relax your muscles because it binds with the endocannabinoid system immediately, which alleviates tension in the body.
🪄Soothes chronic pain- CBD is known to reduce inflammation in the body and soothes muscles and joints which makes it an effective remedy for people suffering from chronic pain.
🪄Relieve anxiety and stress- massage alone is great at reducing anxiety and stress, however adding in a high potency CBD is a great addition because it is said that it may alter and boost serotonin signals
🪄Improve skin- because of its anti-inflammatory properties, CBD conditions the skin and may help with things like eczema, acne, and psoriasis.
🪄Blood flow- CBD can help improve blood circulation through arteries and lower blood pressure which in turn lowers stress levels.

In my opinion, CBD is a powerhouse and I personally use it topically and orally everyday. I use a few different products, but one that is always in my back pocket is .
Come try a CBD massage today!

Hi everyone and happy Monday! I thought it’d be a good idea to come on here write a little about myself, what brought me to massage, and talk about my own massage techniques.💆‍♀️

✨My name is Devon
✨From Massachusetts
✨Grew up in San Diego, CA
✨Currently living in Denver, CO
✨I’ve always been active with sports, fitness, and outdoor activities.
✨My obsessions are my dog, live music, and hiking in the mountains.
✨ When I was in my early 20’s I was in 2 car accidents in 5 days. Both were nothing major, but the back spasms were less then fun. When western medicine wasn’t working for me, I turned to massage. It was the only thing that worked for me; so I realized that it was what I wanted to do for a career.
✨In 2017 I went to Healing Hands School of Massage Therapy and Holistic Health in San Diego, CA where I completed a 1,000 hour program to become a Licensed Massage Therapist and Holistic Health Practitioner.
✨Once I graduated, I moved to Denver, CO because my husband and I decided we needed to explore the Rocky Mountains. 🏔
✨I have worked as an LMT at Jalan Facial Spa and The Brown Palace.
✨I’ve had Mile High Massage and Wellness for some time now, however I am now feeling confident in my abilities to start developing strong relationships with clients that I feel I am ready to take the leap and do this full time.
✨My passion is to support people throughout their journey with health and wellness, and I hope to find more people who are looking to make massage therapy and other wellness practices a consistent part of their lives. I am looking to build connections and relationships with my clients in order to create a safe space to facilitate in their healing.
✨My massage style is a fusion of different modalities. I use high quality CBD cream while combining deep, slow strokes with a relaxed flow and stretching techniques that will leave your mind and body at ease. I also love to incorporate cupping because it removes toxins, relieves muscle tension and so much more.

If this resonates with you or maybe someone you know I would love to talk! And I’m happy to answer any questions you may have.

Mile High Massage and Wellness is officially open for appointments! Come see me for a therapeutic massage and fire cup session.
FIRE 🔥 CUPPING. What is it and what are the benefits!?
🔥an ancient form of alternative medicine that dates back to early Egyptian and Chinese medical practices where the therapist uses cups to create a suction on the clients’ skin.
🔥helps soothe chronic tight muscles
🔥increases blood🩸flow. Increasing circulation and blood flow can relieve muscle tension and promote cell repair
🔥encourages tissue to release toxins. A great natural detoxification.
🔥can reduce anxiety
🔥can help clear congestion from a cold/bronchitis/even asthma. The suction breaks up and expels congestion bringing oxygen rich blood and lymph towards the lungs and other respiratory muscles.
🔥helps reduce inflammation
And the list goes on!
Pairing it with a CBD massage feels like pure magic.✨🪄
