On , join us in celebrating a strong and resilient client in our Haven of Hope program for domestic violence survivors. After working with DuPagePads to find stable and safe shelter, Kara and her two children settled into a unit and quickly felt at home. Kara has a passion for caring for the elderly and has been working as a care aid at a senior living facility. Thanks to her determination, help from DuPagePads staff, and grant assistance, Kara will be starting a 6-week accredited CNA program in the beginning of September!
We love our donors! On , help us send a heartfelt Thank You to donors like Chris, who most recently donated two amazing scooters to the IHC! Every donation plays a crucial role in achieving our mission and supporting our neighbors in need. Together, we are making a path to stable housing possible for individuals experiencing homelessness. Thank you to Chris and all our supporters for believing in us and for being a part of our journey!
It’s , and your generosity continues to help countless individuals and families in need. This week the IHC is in need of items like canned pasta and men’s underwear. Thank you for helping us to provide essential food and supplies to those who need it most!
As we endure todays excessive heat warning together, with real feel temps reaching 107 degrees and climbing, we are so incredibly grateful to have a community supported Interim Housing Center available to provide 179 adults and 110 children safety in temperature controlled rooms with access to hydration and shade. This on days like today would not be possible without your contributions, support, and the help of our incredible volunteers who are helping clients to keep their cool today by handing out over 500 popsicles and cold water across our 115 guest rooms. Thank you for supporting a place in our community for kids, adults, and seniors to be safe and ! www.dupagepads.org
Time to celebrate on ! Keith, a senior client in Permanent Supportive Housing, just officially signed a lease on his own with a Housing Choice Voucher! Keith is thrilled to finally be in a home of his own after a long journey with homelessness, having lived day to day at the former hotel where the IHC stands today. Your help makes it possible for Keith, and many clients like him, to be living and thriving in their own apartment with dignity and independence.

Our friends at SCARCE work hard to build sustainable communities by keeping “stuff” out of landfills and repurposing them in environmentally friendly ways. Today on we are so grateful to be recipients of their generosity and green initiatives! Most recently SCARCE donated 3,500 plastic cups to use at the Interim Housing Center, AND they brought 9 boxes of hygiene kits. Each kit includes a toothbrush, toothpaste, body wash, shampoo/conditioner, deodorant, lotion, and a comb. Thank you for all that you do for our community!

On help us celebrate a family no longer facing homelessness thanks to our Rapid Rehousing program! Amy, a divorced mom of 3, found herself without a home or anywhere to stay while her children spent the summer out of state with their father. The navigation team at DuPagePads worked quickly with Amy to find available housing and we are happy to share Amy has moved into her new unit, busily settling in and preparing for her children to return and start the school year out strong without facing the traumas of homelessness. Congratulations Amy and best wishes for your 3 children this school year!

It's easy to overlook the everyday comforts we have, like having a cell phone for communication. Individuals experiencing homelessness often lack this convenience. On , let's celebrate a client's achievement of receiving their own cell phone! Paul, a 60-year-old Supportive Housing client, successfully applied for and received a government-issued cell phone with the assistance of his case manager. This new device allows him to access emergency contacts, stay in touch more regularly with his case manager, schedule medical appointments, collaborate easily with his disability attorney, and reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation. This new accomplishment opens resources for assistance, and we are so happy for Paul!
