Jerene is a Master salon owner and operator with over 40 years of experience. Not only is she an incredible hairstylist, but she is also a highly recommended and renowned wig specialist. Her expertise in wig styling has earned her referrals from the American Cancer Society, Minnesota Oncology, and four local hospitals.

Jerene’s journey with us began as the owner of Salon 61, which once occupied the space now known as Matthew Robert Salon. She has played a pivotal role in our continued success, serving as an invaluable resource and mentor to Matty as he transitioned to brick-and-mortar chair rental salon ownership. Having her support and blessing through the transition has meant so much to everyone. Jerene’s friendly, energetic, and caring personality makes her a cherished member of our team.

✨ This is brick and mortar salon ownership! ✨

The past 6 months of planning, moving and transitioning have all been worth it to be able to stand on a beautiful commercial property I own and don’t lease. Here are a few things I’ve learned:

•You need to have courage to make your dreams come true, to take the leap and trust the process.

•Some people you thought you could rely on for professional support will surprise you. They won’t respond, they won’t congratulate, they just won’t be there. And that’s okay. Even though this aspect has been disappointing, I need to let it go. I can’t let naysayers dampen my flame.

•Surround yourself with people you trust. Through this process Jared and I had many many many eyes making sure this would be a wise decision. From our business analyst, to our loan officers, to our SBA officers, our accountant, our bankers. Just because I wanted this didn’t necessarily mean it would happen. We wanted to make sure this would make sense for the long haul.

•Lean into your trusted circle. This is so important to know who you can lean into for help, support and encouragement. These are not your “yes” people. These are people who 100% believe in you and will tell you their honest opinions and lend a helping hand.

•Find your tribe! I’m so happy to be working with an awesome team! They are hard workers, supportive, fun, and we all believe in each other! Looking forward to many years ahead with them!

•Transitions are called transitions for a reason. Change is inevitable. You can prepare for a transition as best you can by making lists, by thinking of future scenarios and yet you’ll learn a lot by getting through the transition. If you keep a positive outlook, transitions don’t have to be hard, or too scary. Sometimes you gotta stay calm, cool and collected. 😎
