How to tame a curly mane

Go Easy on the Washing
Use a sulfate- and paraben-free cleanser that doesn’t strip hair of its natural oils. “Don’t wash your hair more than twice a week”. “And use a refreshing spray like DevaCurl Mist-er Right Lavender Curl Revitalizer (12 oz., $19.95) between washes.”

Critical Condition
“It’s all about hydration: After shampooing, massage your scalp with DevaCurl One Condition Ultra Creamy Daily Conditioner (12 oz., $19.95), which can also work as a light styling product. After rinsing, scrunch your hair with a microfiber towel to prevent frizz.”

Don’t Fuss Too Much

Static Control
There are two reasons you have static in your hair: it's either too dry, or weighed down with hair products. Either way, try lightly running a dryer sheet over your head and watch the static go away, it's amazing. Be careful not to over do it though, it can also make your hair greasy.
Anyway, addressing the first reason, dryness, you need to invest in a hydrating shampoo and conditioner for the winter months. If you're looking for cheap Bain De Terre has a duo pack of hydrating shampoo and conditioner.
The next step is to get an intensive conditioner treatment to use once a week to give moisture back to hair. After a week's worth of blow-drying and abuse, your hair is kind of upset with you and gets staticky.
After styling hair, use finishing balm/lotion or spray gel to hold hair in place. NOT HAIRSPRAY! Hairspray dries out your hair even more. I am only saying this if you have static problems. You will find me using hairspray to finish styles all year round.
Now, if you try this and it doesn't work, then you have the opposite problem...you have too much product in your hair! It is a thin line between good and too much and you have overstepped it.Grab a clarifying shampoo. Your hair is becoming brittle and staticky because your other shampoo and conditioner isn't washing away all the gunk you have on your scalp. Starting with a clean head of hair is the best way to avoid static head. Thanks to Sierra Hoover for asking this question.
