Served 47 warrants
Served 46 civil papers
Served 04 criminal summons
Served 03 involuntary hospitalizations
Served 08 EPO/DVO
Served 02 Casey Law petitions
Issued 12 citations
Transported 10 prisoner state wide.
‼️‼️‼️Our office was responsible for 38 out of 73 individuals that were processed in the Letcher County Jail.

During this time, we also covered Letcher Circuit & District Courts, assisted Judge Craft with drug court home visits, covered fiscal court meetings, escorted funerals and responded to complaints and vehicle accidents while working closely with Whitesburg PD, Neon PD, Jenkins PD and KSP.
Thank you to the awesome citizens of Letcher County, for allowing us to serve you and providing us with information to help catch fugitives and assisting us with getting drugs off our streets! We look forward to more progress!

Driver licensing services will be offered to walk-in customers from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at ALL KYTC Driver Licensing Regional Offices this Saturday, December 2. This is part of KYTC’s Driver Licensing Regional Offices Saturday Hours pilot program to expand access to Kentuckians.

No appointment needed. This pilot program DOES NOT include driver testing services offered by the Kentucky State Police.

Officer J. Phipps obtained a search warrant on a residence. During the search was found:

A female subject had two active warrants and was charged with:

- POSSESSION OF HANDGUN BY CONVICTED FELON

A male subject was charged with:

Missing Teen!! !!SHARE!!

Thornton, KY (November 13, 2023) – On Sunday, November 12, 2023, Kentucky State Police, Post 13, Hazard, received a call in reference to a juvenile female that went missing in the Thornton community of Letcher County.

Troopers responded to the scene and began investigating. Kelly G. Mckenzie, 17, of Thronton, was last seen at her residence at approximately 5:00 A.M. Mckenzie, is described as a white female, standing 5’8” tall, weighing 150lbs. She has a medium build, long black hair, and brown eyes.

If you have any information on the whereabouts of Kelly Mckenzie, you are urged to contact Kentucky State Police, Post 13, Hazard, immediately at 606-435-6069. This incident remains under investigation by Trooper Zachary Neice.

‼️IMPORTANT INFORMATION ‼️

❗️We have received multiple calls that people have not received their tax bills. If you have not received yours please call the office at 606-633-2293 to get the amount so you can get those paid by November 16th to get the 2% discount!! When you call the office we can give you the mailing address that is on the tax bill. Also you might want to talk to the postmaster or the post offices that you receive mail at.

Property tax bills were sent out on Thursday October 12th. We will begin the collection process on Monday, October 16th.
As always, if you have any questions, please call our office at 606-633-2293 between 8:30am-4pm Monday thru Friday.

CAPTURED!!!!! The Letcher County Sheriff's Department has apprehended 24-year old Christian Collins who escaped home incarceration prior to his trial for his role in the 2020 home invasion robbery that left a Cowan man critically injured. Read more about it in tomorrow's edition of The News-Press.
