Earlier this month, Wichita Broadway Singers had the honor of singing at a benefit concert for Skylight Respite Ranch. We sang three songs we have been working on this season - "Beauty & the Beast" from Disney's Beauty & the Beast, "Candle on the Water" from Disney's Pete's Dragon, and "Try to Remember" from The Fantasticks. We think it went very well, and enjoyed getting to perform mid-season, especially for such a wonderful cause!

Wichita Broadway Singers is delighted to be performing a few songs at the March 1st event at Trinity Presbyterian Church! This should be an enjoyable evening, and donations benefit a wonderful organization providing post-adoption respite care and parent education.

We are excited to invite you to a benefit concert to raise funds for Skylight Respite Ranch. This is a family-friendly event and refreshments will be served afterwards. Admission is free; donations are appreciated.

Skylight Respite Ranch will provide post-adoption respite care and parent education. Funds raised will help us hire an executive director to help move this process forward more quickly.

It has been a fast pace month so far and we've already had two concerts under our belt! Our first stop was at Catholic Care Center on December 2nd, and then last Tuesday, December 5th, at Prairie Homestead. We had a terrific turnout at both locations! Thank you to all who attended. There will be three more concerts this week along with a Christmas Party. Please join us for some good, fun Broadway and Christmas music. Hope to see you this week!

Wichita Broadway Singers has some exciting news! In the past, we have had the priviledge to sing at KPTS's annual Veteran's banquet. This year, they did not have a banquet. Instead, they taped us singing "A Tribute to the Armed Services" (medley) to be included in their program "Veterans Coming Home Special." This will be aired TONIGHT on PBS. Please check out this special program honoring our Veterans. The same program will also be aired next year for Memorial Day and The Fourth of July as well.

We would like to thank all the Veterans for their service and contribution to our country and for keeping us safe.

Wichita Broadway Singers has a new rehearsal location starting this Tuesday, October 31st (yes, on Halloween Day), we WILL have rehearsal and it will be in a NEW familiar location!

Location for this week and ALL future rehearsals:

Prairie Homestead at 7:00 p.m.

We will meet in the chapel where we have done our concerts in previous semesters. You can enter at the doors closest to the chapel by the parking lot.

Why are we moving to a different location? We have heard that some past members were not able to make the drive to the original location due to distance. We want to make sure we can accommodate as many members as possible. Thank you Carolyn Harris, a Prairie Homestead resident, for helping us secure this place for the remainder of the year and also for the upcoming Spring Semester.

If you have missed out on this Fall season, please consider arranging your schedule to join us in the Spring! As always, we invite prospects to come check us out at a rehearsal or concert. We will post our concert schedule once it is finalized.

Thank you Director Steve for having found us a rehearsal space to begin our season and thanks to his friend from SouthLife Church for allowing us to use their space the past few months so that we could produce great music for this Christmas season!

We will have our first rehearsal tonight! We meet every Tuesday. Please come check us out at our new location. Today, we will do a run-through of all the songs on the list. It will be a great time to hear what is in store for our Fall semester. We hope to see you there! You don't have to pay to check us out.

It is time for more fun and entertaining music! On September 12, we will be starting the Fall semester with familiar Broadway and Christmas songs. Our rehearsals end on November 28th then we will finish up the semester with performances mainly at Assisted Living facilities througout the month of December. We invite you to join Wichita Broadway Singers and be a part of our family and history. Please see the attached flyer for more information. It does not cost to come check us out for a day. We look forward to seeing current, past and future singers! **Please note that the location has changed from previous semesters.

We are not always so serious! We enjoy being with our music family and try to find ways to get to know each other more. Before starting our new semester, we have an Erasing Party. It's a time when we bring out all the music that was used and we ask singers to come hang out and socialize while erasing the pencil markings on the music to prep it for future use. This year, we added entertainment to the party.

Porter Wilkes, our pianist, played a few familiar songs from our Spring concert on his violin: What a Wonderful World, Smile (by Nat King Cole), and A Million Dreams. It was a wonderful performance! He is working on a Masters in Violin, so we were all in awe of his musical talents.

After we finished erasing all the music, Director Steve Blasdel announced the new set of songs for our Fall semester. This moment is usually highly anticipated by everyone! We end the night by celebrating with ice-cream and lots of sweet toppings! By 8:30 p.m., we were all on a sugar high and concluded that it was a terrific evening ;)

A big Thank You to all those who came out to share the occasion with us. Your help was appreciated!

Last February, we were invited to perform at a benefit with Team Cancer Slayers to help raise money for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. It was a very rewarding experience for us. Due to limited space on stage, we brought half of our singers. Here are a few late post pictures :)

WBS had a great time performing at Oxford Villa this past May. It was our last concert for the Spring semester. Despite a new challenge to stand along the stairwell in their lobby, we had fun singing to the wonderful crowd. It was an excellent ending before our summer break! Thank you Oxford Villa for inviting us to perform at your beautiful facility. We hope you will ask us to sing again!

Today will be our last concert at Oxford Villa at 7:00 p.m. This is another new location for us and we can't wait to entertain everyone there. We hope to see many faces in the audience and also hope to see everyone singing with us as well!

Our concert at Catholic Care Center went very well on Tuesday. We had a good turnout and wonderful audience participation! We hope they enjoyd it as much as we enjoyed performing for them :)

Our second to last concert will be tomorrow at the Catholic Care Center in Bel Aire. We will be singing in the "Assisted Living" wing in their dining room at 7:00 p.m. Refreshments following the concert. Please come join us for some inspirational and fun music!

If you are planning on attending this concert, please follow the "Assisted Living" signs and enter at the burgundy awning labeled -Assisted Living. There is construction on Woodlawn so give yourself some extra time to detour in order to get to our concert on time. We hope to see you tomorrow!

If you are not able to attend this concert, we have our last one on Thursday, May 25th at Oxford Villa at 7:00 p.m.

We have only one group picture from our concert at Sandpiper Healthcare and Rehabilitation on Tuesday, May 18th to share :). Our audience was smaller than the previous locations but they sure were lively and enjoyed our music! It was such a great experience performing for them. We hope they will invite us back to perform some Christmas music in December!

On to our next stop...tonight, we will be singing at Sandpiper Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center. This concert will start at 6:30 p.m. Sandpiper and the next two concerts are new locations for us. We are anxious to see the new venues and look forward to entertaining more residents and staff. Hope to see you there as well. To those who have attended our concerts, we thank you for being our audience.
