Your cat is Purrfect at home…. so we designed the Cat’s Club exam room with that home comfort feel in mind. The club does not allow dogs and offers snacks and soft, inviting blankets. Upon arrival you and your feline friend can go to the cat exclusive room, open the carrier and explore, climb, relax or purr while we visit and examine your cat.

There can be a lot going on in your pet’s mouth! Our very own Dr. Moyer has advanced training in dental surgical procedures and loves helping pets regain their oral health and comfort. We often see an energized, happy pet after dental care.

Meet the Team! Today we bring you our Five Forks Co-Owners, Veterinarians, and all around amazing people...Dr. Laura Buscher and Dr. Andrew Moyer!

Get to know your Vet...
In the past, Dr. Buscher has participated in competitive obedience, dog breed shows and hunt tests. She currently has 2 dogs and a cat she personally enjoys on a daily basis. She loves having animals in her life and always has. She strives to help others enjoy their relationship to the fullest. The goal of Five Forks Animal Clinic is to be there for the life of your pet. Dr. Buscher is very excited to meet the people of the Williamsburg area and play a larger role in the community.

Dr. Moyer has a number of special interests, like client communication and education, nutrition, and dentistry. He has received advanced dental surgical training and utilizes that expertise and skill for his patients. Shelter medicine has always called to his heart and he finds his role as the veterinarian at Heritage humane Society incredibly fulfilling . In his free time, Dr. Moyer enjoys playing drums, going on hikes with his wife and his dog Ellie. Dr. Moyer is excited to be in a private practice setting and serving the needs of area pet families and is beyond excited to be a part of opening Five Forks Animal Clinic.

Meet our outstanding Licensed Veterinary Technician (aka Vet Nurse), Scherrie! We are so lucky to have Scherrie taking care of our amazing family here at Five Forks! With 23 years of experience she brings an extensive knowledge base and an abundance of empathy to every room she enters!

Leptospirosis is more common in areas with warm climates and high annual rainfall (aka the Peninsula). Exposure to slow-moving or stagnant water is a major risk factor, although it can also be contracted from wet, shaded grass or along the banks of rivers or lakes. ​​​​​​​​

Tips for Prevention: ​​​​​​​​
-Avoid letting your dog drink or swim in rivers, lakes, ponds, marshy areas or slow moving waters​​​​​​​​
-Current vaccines available effectively prevent Leptospirosis for at least 12 months​​​​​​​​

Welcome to Five Forks Animal Clinic! The first face you will see when coming in is Tara! Tara’s sweet smiling face will welcome you and your pet through the door and get you guys comfortable in your room. You can ask Tara questions before of after your appointment. And don’t forget to let her schedule your next check up!

We all know that chocolate is bad for dogs, but did you know there are a lot of other foods that you should avoid feeding to your pets?

Some of the common ones include:
Avocado
Caffeine
Grapes and Raisins
Onions
Garlic
Xylitol

As always, if you suspect your pet has eaten any of these foods, please note the amount ingested and contact your veterinarian or the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at (888) 426-4435.
