3 rules for toning past 40+

Cookie- Cutter GENERIC-based plans often go off the rails after the age of 40...

What used to work no longer produces the same results, no matter how strictly you adhere to it.

Even if you follow it to the letter.

A big reason is that no matter how much else stays the same, one thing fundamentally does not:

Metabolism.

When your metabolism becomes sluggish, and stalls so does your results. What used to work... suddenly stops...

Exercise needs change

Plus stress tolerance and so many other factors.

Taking all this into account, it's easy to assume that nothing will work

But nothing could be further from the truth!

You just need to update your rule book a bit.

If that sounds like an oversimplification, I totally get it...

But it will make much more sense when you see how straightforward it can be to get toned after 40

I completely understand the frustration of feeling like you've tried everything, but nothing seems to be working.

It's a really common experience, especially for women over 40 who are dealing with the natural hormonal and metabolic changes that come with aging.

The truth is, traditional "one-size-fits-all" approaches to weight loss just don't work for most people in the long run. What works amazingly well for your friend or neighbor may be completely ineffective for you, and that's okay.

We're all unique individuals with our own genetic predispositions, lifestyle factors, and emotional relationships with food and exercise.

🥗Who else loves a delicious, flavor-in-every-bite, chopped salad?! 🙋‍♀️

This recipe is loaded with power-packed ingredients that’ll fill you up and keep you feeling satisfied.

If you want more protein, add some grilled salmon or chicken. SO GOOD.

Power Packed Chopped Salad
(Serves 4)

6 cups (200 g) mixed leafy greens
1 medium cucumber, diced
2 medium tomatoes, diced
1 large avocado, diced
1 cup (185 g) cooked quinoa or brown rice
1 cup (170 g) cooked shelled edamame
1 cup (150 g) corn kernels, fresh or frozen and thawed
½ cup (50 g) dried cranberries
½ cup (100 g) goat cheese crumbles (optional)

Dressing:
¼ cup (60ml) olive oil
2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 Tbsp honey or maple syrup
Juice of 1 lemon
1 garlic clove, minced
Salt and pepper to taste

Using a cutting board and sharp knife, chop the greens, cucumber, tomatoes, and avocado into bite-sized pieces. Place in a large salad bowl. Set aside.

Make the dressing by combining all the ingredients in a small bowl and whisking them together. Taste and adjust the seasoning.

Add the quinoa, edamame, corn, cranberries, and goat cheese to the salad mixture and toss gently. Pour the dressing over the salad and toss until everything is well coated.

💔 It happened again… didn’t it…

You spent the whole summer vowing this would be the year you finally got in shape.

You bought new workout clothes, joined a gym, and thought "THIS" time would be different...

But as the summer winds down, you find yourself right back where you started—disappointed and discouraged.

We understand the frustration.

Getting older makes it harder to lose weight and keep it off.

Your metabolism slows down, and your hormones start to change.

It's not fair, but it's the reality we face as women over 40.

But here's the thing: it's not impossible. With the right mindset and the right tools, you can still achieve your fitness goals, no matter your age.

Here are a few tips to get you started:

1️⃣ Set realistic goals. Don't try to lose 20 pounds in a month. Start with a smaller goal, like losing 5 pounds or fitting into your favorite pair of jeans.

2️⃣ Find an exercise routine that you enjoy. If you don't like running, don't force yourself to do it. There are plenty of other ways to get exercise, like walking, swimming, or biking.

3️⃣ Make exercise a priority. Schedule time for exercise in your day, and stick to it. Even if it's just for 30 minutes, it's better than nothing.

4️⃣ Don't give up! There will be setbacks along the way, but don't let them discourage you. Just pick yourself up and keep going.

Other times, it's whatever's in the fridge (so make sure it’s healthy!) 🍽️

The key? Focus on consistency, not perfection. Small steps add up!
