We are excited to announce that we are now offering Shiatsu Massage appointments on Wednesdays and Thursdays during normal business hours.

I am extremely excited to have a Shiatsu practitioner join our office because it will be a great way to compliment and further your treatment and progress. Shiatsu is originally a Japanese form of massage and utilizes hand pressure along acupuncture meridians or pathways. Performed over loose fitting comfortable clothing, shiatsu employs stretching and manipulates the body to improve blood flow and circulation as well as reduce pain and improve many functions of the body.

Sophie Swan is a certified Shiatsu Practitioner and Licensed Massage Therapist. She has recently moved back to the Wi******er area from Chicago where she studied at the School of Zen Shiatsu. She is very talented and will be a great addition to our office.

You do not need to be a current patient to schedule a Shiatsu massage.

Give our office a call to schedule.

As we are transitioning into the colder seasons and holidays, remember to let nature guide your actions. Rest, nourish your roots, give yourself time for reflection and introspection. Following these practices will help keep you in tune with nature and help you prepare for going into the upcoming season.

We are so grateful for all of our patients! This is our WHY!

Full patient review:

"I cannot recommend Wi******er Acupuncture Clinic enough! A little of my backstory- I started seeing Dr. Carrie back in August 2022 for treatment for infertility, developing coping skills from losing a previous pregnancy, anxiety, and depression. For years my husband and I were trying to expand our family, only to be met with heartbreak, stress, and having to spend lots of money on treatments that were unsuccessful. I had always heard about acupuncture and the benefits that could come from helping to balance out hormones for multiple health reasons.

I went into this new treatment opportunity with an open mind and heart, ready to experience all that acupuncture could offer me. After one session and two weeks later, I became pregnant with my son whom I have just given birth to this May. I just couldn't believe our blessings, and I continued to see Dr. Carrie throughout my entire pregnancy. She took wonderful care with accommodating my growing body, listening to my specific needs, and just was overall there for me during this beautiful transition in my life. I'm so grateful for Dr. Carrie and her staff for their dedication to helping their patients and spending so much time planning out the individual treatment that each one of us needs. I plan to continue my acupuncture journey, while working around being a full time mom and returning to work in the fall."

A growing body of evidence shows the benefits of acupuncture to overall health. Acupuncture is used to treat a myriad of health problems, including:

Chronic pain.
Headaches.
Parkinson's disease.
Fertility.
Type 2 diabetes.
Acupuncture is most commonly used to treat pain, however increasing attention has turned to how it can affect overall wellness, including anxiety and stress management. "Acupuncture stimulates the body's natural feel-good hormones and reduces the level of stress hormones like cortisol, making it a potentially important tool," Chris Powell, acupuncturist with over 27 years in the practice says.

How Does Acupuncture Treat Neck Pain?

Acupuncture uses pressure points throughout the body to stimulate the central nervous system. Once stimulated, the nervous system releases chemicals in your body that encourage it to heal.

How does acupuncture work? According to traditional Chinese medicine philosophy, yin and yang are two types of energy present in every person’s body. This energy, also known as qi, flows along the body’s meridians (or pathways), keeping everything in balance. Approximately 2,000 acupuncture points lie along the body’s meridians. If these forces become blocked, or unbalanced, the body becomes unhealthy. Acupuncture stimulates these points to restore a healthy flow of energy.

For centuries, acupuncture has been used to regulate women’s periods when they lose balance. Few women we see in the clinic have a “perfect” 28-day menstrual cycle. Some women have never had a regular menstrual cycle, some lost their regularity after taking the birth control pill, and some aren’t sure why their cycles changed. Regardless of the cause, menstrual problems can make getting pregnant more difficult, so regulating the period is one of the first steps of fertility treatment. Acupuncture can treat menstrual irregularity and help restore regular cycles.

We've been seeing lots of folks with irregular cycles. If you are struggling with this or other cycle related issues, please reach out.
