Morning,
I'm not sure if you are the right person to reach out to but I am a hospital social worker working with a lovely woman who is pregnant with triplets. She also has 3 other kids all under the age of 6 years old! She lives in Waltham with her kids and husband. They have very limited finances and so I'm trying to help them get the things that they will need for the babies. They are especially worried about a stroller as their next oldest child is just 1 years old so still needs a stroller herself. Do you have any suggestions on where we could look for a stroller that could be donated to this very needy family? They live in Waltham and English is not their primary language so I'm trying to help them the best I can.
Thanks in advance. Best, Liz

As I prepare for my appearance at as the featured expert for their New Mom Happy Hour, we decided to share some twin sleep tips since owner Tiffany also had twins! Tiffany and I bonded over parenting twins. I’m a step-mom to teenage twin girls and Tiffany has a much younger set of twins and a singleton. Tiffany knew the struggle of juggling personalities with twins and can definitely relate to the differences between singletons and multiples!
Twins equal “double trouble” right? How does one manage teaching independent sleep when twins are the clients? It’s important to remember that when working with twins (or when you have twins), they are separate people. People often expect twins to be the same and that just isn’t reality!
In addition to remembering that twins are different people, ideally you want them on the same schedule. Obviously, this isn’t always the case, especially because they are likely to vary in their sleep needs. Allowing the child with lower sleep needs to dictate the schedule is likely to make things easier. This is because it’s likely that one child is sleeping better than the other. The child that is sleeping better will catch on shortly after the other.
Otherwise, treat both children like singletons. Each child might have a different way of learning and may have different needs than their sibling. Remember that it’s also okay to separate them if you have the means and the caregivers to divide and conquer. Not being able to put them in separate rooms is okay too, they are likely very used to their sibling’s noises.
Are you interested in learning more? Send me a DM. Let’s get your baby/babies sleeping better this week!
