POLLEN REPORT: Wednesday, July 24, 2024
Today's W**D pollen rating is 10 LOW.
Today's TREE pollen rating is 3 LOW.
No GRASS pollen was observed in today's sample.

POLLEN FORECAST [PRS]:
Thu 07/25: W**ds = 5 LOW, Grasses & Trees = 1 LOW.
Fri 07/26: W**ds = 7 LOW, Grasses & Trees = 1 LOW.
Sat 07/27: W**ds = 16 LOW, Grasses = 5 LOW, Trees = 3 LOW.

Pollen concentrations for all types continues to remain LOW this afternoon as the Triad is in the midst of the average minimum for total pollen production for this time of year. An active and stormy pattern continues the rest of the week as a stationary front remains situated over the Triad, keeping all pollen levels LOW through Friday. Drier air moves in from the north on Saturday as the front sags south of the Triad, bringing pleasant conditions and LOW pollen levels for the weekend. (Payne)

POLLEN REPORT: Tuesday, July 23, 2024
Today's W**D pollen rating is 13 LOW (14% Ragw**d).
Today's TREE pollen rating is 8 LOW.
Today's GRASS pollen rating is 1 LOW.

POLLEN FORECAST [PRS]:
Wed 07/24: W**ds = 7 LOW, Trees = 3 LOW, Grasses = 1 LOW.
Thu 07/25: W**ds = 3 LOW, Trees = 1 LOW, Grasses = 0 ABSENT.
Fri 07/26: W**ds = 7 LOW, Trees = 3 LOW, Grasses = 1 LOW.

All pollen types are LOW today. Ragw**d pollen was observed today for the first time this year. This time of year is typically when we first see ragw**d pollen, but peak ragw**d season occurs in late August and early September in the Triad. The only tree pollen observed in today’s sample was cedar/juniper pollen. The weather through Friday is forecast to be warm and humid with a chance for afternoon or evening showers or thunderstorms. All pollen types are expected to remain LOW for the next three days (except for possible ABSENT grass pollen on Thursday) with w**d pollen being the predominant pollen type. (Russ)

07/22/2024

POLLEN REPORT: Monday, July 22, 2024
Today's W**D pollen rating is 16 LOW.
Today's TREE pollen rating is 1 LOW.
No GRASS pollen was observed in today's sample.

POLLEN FORECAST [PRS]:
Tue 07/23: W**ds = 18 LOW, Trees = 3 LOW, Grasses = 1 LOW.
Wed 07/24: W**ds = 15 LOW, Trees = 3 LOW, Grasses = 1 LOW.
Thu 07/25: W**ds = 9 LOW, Grasses & Trees = 1 LOW.

W**d and tree pollen are both LOW today. No grass pollen was observed, and the only tree pollen observed in today’s sample was cedar/juniper pollen. Today’s wet conditions with damp plant surfaces have helped to suppress airborne pollen levels. In addition, of all the months during which we collect pollen (February – October), July has the average lowest ambient pollen concentrations. It is a time of year in the Triad during which few wind-pollinated (anemophilous) plants normally pollinate. The next three days are forecast to be generally similar to today - warm and humid with a chance for afternoon or evening showers or thunderstorms. All pollen types are expected to remain LOW through Thursday with w**d pollen being the predominant pollen type. (Russ)

07/19/2024

POLLEN REPORT: Friday, July 19, 2024
Today's W**D pollen rating is 1 LOW.
Today's TREE pollen rating is 1 LOW.
No GRASS pollen was observed in today's sample.

POLLEN FORECAST [PRS]:
Sat 07/20: W**ds = 4 LOW, Grasses & Trees = 1 LOW.
Sun 07/21: W**ds = 4 LOW, Grasses & Trees = 1 LOW.
Mon 07/22: W**ds = 7 LOW, Trees = 3 LOW, Grasses = 1 LOW.

All pollen types decreased compared to yesterday. W**d and tree pollen are both very LOW. No grass pollen was observed, and the only tree pollen observed in today’s sample was one grain of cedar/juniper pollen. Three factors seem to have combined to produce today’s very low pollen counts. On average, of all the months during which we collect pollen (February – October), July has the lowest ambient pollen concentrations. It is a time of year in the Triad during which few wind-pollinated (anemophilous) plants normally pollinate. Despite some recent rain showers, plants are still stressed by prolonged drought conditions. In addition, those recent showers helped wash some pollen from the air and wet plant surfaces suppress pollen release. The next three days are forecast to be generally similar to today - warm and humid with a chance for afternoon or evening showers or thunderstorms. All pollen types are expected to remain very LOW through Monday with w**d pollen being the predominant pollen type. (Russ)

07/18/2024

POLLEN REPORT: Thursday, July 18, 2024
Today's W**D pollen rating is 13 LOW.
Today's TREE pollen rating is 3 LOW.
Today's GRASS pollen rating is 1 LOW.

POLLEN FORECAST [PRS]:
Fri 07/19: W**ds = 15 LOW, Trees = 3 LOW, Grasses = 1 LOW.
Sat 07/20: W**ds = 10 LOW, Grasses & Trees = 1 LOW.
Sun 07/21: W**ds = 10 LOW, Grasses & Trees = 1 LOW.

All pollen types are LOW again today. Tree pollen was 67% Cedar/Juniper and 33% Pine. Dry conditions are stressing plants and hampering pollen production. There is a chance for afternoon and evening showers or thunderstorms each of the next three days with the greatest chances over the weekend. Any precipitation that we do receive will benefit our local plants, but wet plant surfaces will hinder pollen release. All pollen types are expected to remain LOW through Sunday with w**d pollen being the predominant pollen type. (Russ)

07/17/2024

POLLEN REPORT: Wednesday, July 17, 2024
Today's W**D pollen rating is 13 LOW.
Today's GRASS pollen rating is 1 LOW.
Today's TREE pollen rating is 1 LOW.

POLLEN FORECAST [PRS]:
Thu 07/18: W**ds = 15 LOW, Trees = 3 LOW, Grasses = 1 LOW.
Fri 07/19: W**ds = 15 LOW, Trees = 3 LOW, Grasses = 1 LOW.
Sat 07/20: W**ds = 15 LOW, Trees = 3 LOW, Grasses = 1 LOW.

All pollen types were lower today than yesterday. Only one grass pollen grain and one tree pollen grain (cedar/juniper) were collected in today’s sample. Very dry conditions are stressing plants and hampering pollen production. There is a chance for afternoon and evening showers or thunderstorms each of the next three days. Any precipitation that we do receive will benefit our local plants. Wet plant surfaces, however, will hinder pollen release. All pollen types are expected to remain LOW through Saturday with w**d pollen being the predominant pollen type. (Russ)

07/16/2024

POLLEN REPORT: Tuesday, July 16, 2024
Today's W**D pollen rating is 26 MODERATE.
Today's GRASS pollen rating is 17 LOW.
Today's TREE pollen rating is 16 LOW.

POLLEN FORECAST [PRS]:
Wed 7/17: W**ds = 13 LOW, Grasses = 9 LOW, Trees = 7 LOW.
Thu 7/18: W**ds = 13 LOW, Grasses = 9 LOW, Trees = 7 LOW.
Fri 7/19: W**ds = 13 LOW, Grasses = 9 LOW, Trees = 7 LOW.

Hot and humid conditions continue to dominate over the Triad today, but w**d pollen managed to increase slightly into the lower MODERATE range while trees and grasses remained LOW. Moisture will continue to increase in advance of a cold front moving in from the northwest on Wednesday. Conditions will likely be hot and humid once again, but the lack of rainfall should continue to keep all pollen levels LOW. Rain chances increase late Wednesday as the cold front moves into the Triad and stalls through the rest of the week, keeping all pollen levels LOW. (Payne)

07/15/2024

POLLEN REPORT: Monday, July 15, 2024
Today's W**D pollen rating is 19 LOW.
Today's GRASS pollen rating is 17 LOW.
Today's TREE pollen rating is 10 LOW.

POLLEN FORECAST [PRS]:
Tue 7/16: W**ds = 16 LOW, Grasses = 9 LOW, Trees = 8 LOW.
Wed 7/17: W**ds = 13 LOW, Grasses = 9 LOW, Trees = 7 LOW.
Thu 7/18: W**ds = 13 LOW, Grasses = 9 LOW, Trees = 7 LOW.

A subtropical ridge has allowed temperatures to soar towards record heat this afternoon, with light winds providing little in the way of pollen dispersion to keep all pollen levels LOW. The ridge remains in place tomorrow to provide another day of oppressive heat, though winds are expected to increase slightly out of the southwest. With that said, all pollen levels will likely remain LOW as the lack of precipitation severely limits pollen production. A more active pattern is on tap for Wednesday and Thursday as a cold front moves in from the northwest, providing a forcing mechanism for likely showers/storms Wednesday evening through Thursday. Even though chances of rain increase, pollen production is typically at a minimum this time of year and should remain LOW the rest of the week. (Payne)

POLLEN REPORT: Friday, July 12, 2024
Today's GRASS pollen rating is 17 LOW.
Today's TREE pollen rating is 8 LOW.
Today's W**D pollen rating is 1 LOW.

POLLEN FORECAST [PRS]:
Sat 07/13: Grasses = 9 LOW, Trees & W**ds = 7 LOW.
Sun 07/14: W**ds = 16 LOW, Grasses = 9 LOW, Trees = 8 LOW.
Mon 07/15: W**ds = 19 LOW, Grasses = 9 LOW, Trees = 8 LOW.

Tree pollen is LOW again today (100% cedar/juniper). Grass pollen also is LOW, and w**d pollen is very LOW. Though most of the rain will be east of the Triad, a few stronger storms could form over the region this afternoon. Showers and low winds (~5mph) should keep all pollen types LOW for tomorrow. Dry conditions will return on Saturday, with temps near 90. Sunday and Monday will be humid and hot (mid 90s), with light and variable winds. Airborne pollen may rebound slightly by Monday, though most likely for w**ds since this is time of year when grasses and trees produce very little pollen. (Coffey)

POLLEN FORECAST [PRS]:
Fri 07/12: Trees = 19 LOW, Grasses = 17 LOW, W**ds = 7 LOW.
Sat 07/13: Trees = 10 LOW, Grasses = 9 LOW, W**ds = 7 LOW.
Sun 07/14: W**ds = 16 LOW, Trees = 12 LOW, Grasses = 9 LOW.

Tree pollen levels dropped back into the LOW range today, though still dominated by cedar/juniper (82%). The remaining 18% of tree pollen grains were pine. Grass and w**d pollen have remained LOW. We should have sunny skies and warm temps (near 90) the rest of afternoon, but thanks to a cold front that came in last night, it is less humid than it has been earlier in the week. Most of tomorrow, we will have clouds, showers, and/or thunderstorms, but the greatest chances of rain will be after 2pm. Hot, humid conditions will return Saturday, with scattered afternoon and evening storms. With storms and showers on the way, all pollen types should remain LOW through Sunday. (Coffey)

Fri 07/12: Grasses = 17 LOW, Trees & W**ds = 15 LOW.
Sat 07/13: Grasses = 17 LOW, Trees & W**ds = 15 LOW.

A burst of Juniper pollen elevated tree pollen levels to the Moderate range today. Grass and w**d pollen remain Low. More dry weather is on tap for tomorrow and pollen concentrations should be similar to today. Grass and tree pollen are expected to hover around the Low/Moderate range threshold and w**d pollen will remain Low. Storm chances will increase to round out the workweek and into the first half of the weekend. Airborne pollen concentrations will be reduced where storms occur and all three pollen types are expected to remain Low through Saturday. (Perrotte)

POLLEN REPORT: Friday, July 05, 2024
Today's W**D pollen rating is 48 MODERATE.
Today's GRASS pollen rating is 52 HIGH.
Today's TREE pollen rating is 52 HIGH.

POLLEN FORECAST [PRS]:
Sat 07/06: Trees = 30 MODERATE, Grasses = 29 MODERATE, W**ds = 27 MODERATE.
Sun 07/07: Trees = 25 LOW, Grasses = 24 LOW, W**ds = 21 LOW.
Mon 07/08: W**ds = 20 LOW, Grasses & Trees = 23 LOW.

Despite the current and historical trends, tree pollen was HIGH today, with a large amount of diversity in species (47% Pine, 20% Oak, 15% Cedar/Juniper, 4% Other Trees, 4% Hickory, 3% Cottonwood, 2% Walnut, 2% Beech, 2% Birch, and 1% Sweet Gum). Winds carrying pollen from further south combined with the high daytime temperatures are the most likely cause of this. Grass pollen was HIGH and w**d pollen was MODERATE. Overnight and daytime showers, combined with a westerly wind should reduce air-borne pollen tomorrow. Tree, grass and w**d pollen are all expected to be MODERATE on Saturday. Continued showers should reduce pollen types into the LOW range on Sunday. All pollen types should remain in the LOW range on Monday, as showers are expected to continue. (Swartz)

Today's TREE pollen rating is 32 MODERATE.
Today's W**D pollen rating is 30 MODERATE.
Today's GRASS pollen rating is 25 LOW.

POLLEN FORECAST [PRS]:
Tue 06/25: W**ds = 28 MODERATE, Trees = 27 MODERATE, Grasses = 24 LOW.
Wed 06/26: W**ds = 27 MODERATE, Trees = 26 MODERATE, Grasses = 22 LOW.
Thu 06/27: W**ds = 22 LOW, Trees = 20 LOW, Grasses = 18 LOW.

All pollen types increased today compared to the levels observed late last week. Both tree and w**d pollen made the MODERATE range with grass pollen in the upper end of the LOW range. Today’s tree pollen is 88% Cedar/Juniper, 8% Pine, 2% Walnut, and 2% Other Trees. With similar hot humid weather on tap for the next two days, pollen levels should remain about the same. Chances for rain increase beginning Wednesday afternoon into Thursday. Large amounts of rain are not expected, but there could be enough to drop all pollen types into the LOW range on Thursday. (Russ)

POLLEN REPORT: Friday, June 21, 2024
Today's W**D pollen rating is 22 LOW.
Today's TREE pollen rating is 16 LOW.
Today's GRASS pollen rating is 1 LOW.

POLLEN FORECAST [PRS]:
Sat 06/22: W**ds = 25 LOW, Trees = 15 LOW, Grasses = 10 LOW.
Sun 06/23: W**ds = 25 LOW, Trees = 15 LOW, Grasses = 10 LOW.
Mon 06/24: W**ds = 25 LOW, Trees = 15 LOW, Grasses = 10 LOW.

Hot, dry weather continues across the Triad on Friday and all pollen types remain in the Low range. It will continue to be hot and increasingly humid over the weekend and into Monday although the increased humidity will allow for low-end storm chances on Sunday and Monday. With pollen levels already Low, any storms that do occur will only act to reduce pollen concentrations further. Expect all pollen types to remain Low into the beginning of next week. (Perrotte)

06/20/2024

POLLEN REPORT: Thursday, June 20, 2024
Today's W**D pollen rating is 25 LOW.
Today's GRASS pollen rating is 9 LOW.
Today's TREE pollen rating is 7 LOW.

POLLEN FORECAST [PRS]:
Fri 06/21: W**ds = 25 LOW, Grasses & Trees = 15 LOW.
Sat 06/22: W**ds = 25 LOW, Grasses = 20 LOW, Trees = 15 LOW.
Sun 06/23: W**ds = 26 MODERATE, Grasses = 25 LOW, Trees = 15 LOW.

All pollen types remain Low today, which is unsurprising due to lack of recent rainfall, hot temperatures, and time of year. Similar weather is on tap through the weekend but it will likely be a touch warmer overall, in the lower to possibly middle 90s. Wind speeds might be marginally higher on Sunday, which if realized, will create an environment that is more conducive for pollen dispersion. W**d pollen is expected to reach the lower Moderate range as a result and grass pollen is expected to approach the Low/Moderate range cutoff. Otherwise, all pollen types will remain Low. (Perrotte)

06/19/2024

POLLEN REPORT: Wednesday, June 19, 2024
Today's TREE pollen rating is 19 LOW.
Today's W**D pollen rating is 16 LOW.
Today's GRASS pollen rating is 9 LOW.

POLLEN FORECAST [PRS]:
Thu 06/20: W**ds = 25 LOW, Grasses = 22 LOW, Trees = 15 LOW.
Fri 06/21: W**ds = 25 LOW, Grasses = 22 LOW, Trees = 15 LOW.
Sat 06/22: W**ds = 25 LOW, Grasses = 22 LOW, Trees = 15 LOW.

All pollen types are in the Low range on Wednesday. More summerlike weather is on tap through the first half of the weekend with high temperatures in the lower to perhaps middle 90s by Saturday under mainly sunny skies. Given how dry it has been, the time of year, and lack of upcoming rainfall that might aid in-season plants with pollen production, all pollen types are expected to remain Low through the first half of the weekend. POLLEN REPORT: Friday, June 14, 2024
Today's GRASS pollen rating is 28 MODERATE.
Today's TREE pollen rating is 26 MODERATE.
Today's W**D pollen rating is 25 LOW.

POLLEN FORECAST [PRS]:
Sat 06/15: Grasses = 28 MODERATE, W**ds = 27 MODERATE, Trees = 25 LOW.
Sun 06/16: W**ds = 27 MODERATE, Grasses = 26 MODERATE, Trees = 12 LOW.
Mon 06/17: W**ds = 27 MODERATE, Grasses = 26 MODERATE, Trees = 10 LOW.

Despite tree pollen being low all week, levels spiked today into the lower MODERATE range (76% Cedar/Juniper and 24% Pine). Grass pollen also is MODERATE, and w**d pollen is LOW. There is a chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms later this evening, but any rain received would not be enough to affect pollen levels significantly. Other than the potential storm tonight, the same weather pattern we have had all week will continue into the weekend and the early part of next week, with little to no chances of precipitation. We will have warm, sunny days, with light winds and highs in the upper 80s. Monday could even have temps in the low 90s. Nights will be mostly clear with lows in the mid to upper 60s. We can expect LOW or upper LOW tree pollen levels, and grasses and w**ds will be in the upper LOW/lower MODERATE range. (Coffey)

For the remainder of the forecast period, we will have light but variable winds, as well as clear nights with lows in the mid to upper 60s.
