Fire crews may be the closest first responders available. WS Firefighters are also trained emergency medical responders and in certain instances can begin care before an ambulance arrives. In an emergency every second counts!

INCIDENT ALERT - Multi vehicle accident US 52 South at Research Parkway interchange. 52 south is closed.
DKY - A tiller, or tractor-drawn aerial, is a ladder truck where both the front and rear axles steer. There’s a front driver and a rear driver. They are more maneuverable than a conventional ladder truck, where only the front axle steers, and they have more storage space for tools.

INCIDENT UPDATE
At 12:06pm, Officers responded to a reported bomb threat in the 1600 Block of Preston Woods Drive. Through the investigation, Officers received information suggesting the threat could be credible so appropriate notifications were made to the Winston-Salem Fire and WSPD specialized units. In addition, individuals residing in the area were notified of the situation due to potential safety concerns.
One (1) individual has been taken into custody. Officers with our Hazardous Devices Unit are currently checking the residence. Further details regarding this incident will be released in a media release. We are grateful for all of our community partners and WSPD family members who assisted in resolving this incident peacefully and keeping our community safe.

INCIDENT ALERT 🚨
Winston-Salem Police Department (WSPD) Officers are on the scene of a call regarding a reported bomb threat at a residence. After an assessment and as a precaution, Officers are notifying neighbors in the area of the 1600 Block of Preston Woods Drive regarding the call for service. The Winston-Salem Fire Department (WSFD) is assisting. If in the area, please be alert and aware. Check social media for real time updates.

INCIDENT ALERT - Crews on the scene of a water main break in the 400 block of W. Acadia Ave. One adult and pet displaced. No injuries. City crews are on scene working to repair water main. W. Acadia Ave. will be closed for an extended period of time.

RECRUIT CLASS 34 - Class #34 hard at Technical Rescue training.
DYK - Technical rescue is the use of specialised tools and skills for rescue, including vehicle extrication, confined space rescue, rope rescue, trench rescue and structural collapse.

Crews training on venting a roof.
DYK - When a hole is made in the roof, the smoke and gases escape. Venting the roof makes it easier for firefighters to see & find the source of the fire. Cutting the roof helps to release heat and stop the fire from spreading through the attic.

INCIDENT ALERT - Crews are on the scene of an active gas leak. Hanes Mill Rd closed between University PKWY and HWY 52 SB exit. Be alert if in the area.

INCIDENT ALERT - Crews rescue a dog without injuries stuck 20 feet in a culvert drain pipe in the 600 block of Petree Rd. Units involved were Ladder 18, Rescue 1, Battalion 1, Safety 7, and Air Resource 1.

E6, L2 and Griffith Fire training on pump operations.
DYK - pump operations are crucial for ensuring adequate water supply during an emergency. The primary role of a fire pump is to increase the pressure of the water coming from water sources & deliver it through hoses to the fire.
Crews utilizing unoccupied structures for hose training.
DYN - Hose training involves techniques to properly handle, deploy, and operate fire hoses during firefighting operations.
Hose training is critical for firefighters to safely & effectively combat fires.
INCIDENT ALERT - L19 is on the scene of an overturned tractor trailer carrying 44k lbs of cargo. North bound 311 @ west bound 40 is closed.
