Nothing you love is lost. Not really. Things, people—they always go away, sooner or later. You can’t hold them, any more than you can hold moonlight. But if they’ve touched you, if they’re inside you, then they’re still yours. The only things you ever really have are the ones you hold inside your heart. ~Bruce Coville

Mobility first then Stability. It’s not quite that simple but for the most part .

THE SHOES YOU WEAR MATTER!

*Keep it flat , limit the thickness of the insole ( this at times needs to be a slow adaptive change . If you’ve been in cushy running shoes forever gradually introduce the new footwear daily.

*Choose a roomy toe box .

*Spend some time barefoot each day .

*Eventually increase those intervals .

*Take it slow In the end it will payoff .

*Not everyone will be able to work in a nice linear fashion .
*
*Each individual is unique and life has left a mark on each individual . So finding the right professional to help guide this journey can be key

* Last thing that is a simple and cheap self limiting drill I’ll call it play . Find or buy an 8 ft. 2x4 keep under the bed or wherever .

*Daily , walk barefoot forwards and backwards gradually working towards looking straight ahead to some eyes closed . If New to this do it near a wall and only use wall as last resort for balance .

The first ray is the inside segment of the foot that ends at the big toe (consisting of the first cuneiform bone and first metatarsal)
This functional unit of bones and tissues is an important part of what makes the ARCH a strong and stable structure
The first ray is an integral part of the medial longitudinal arch, and its function during walking, running, balance/stability and many human movements is key
🔑 The first ray functions as a pillar for the arch
- Integrity and strength of the first ray is important for PROPULSION when pushing off while walking. It acts as the primary lever which transfers a lot of load and energy/force through the ground
- Running, jumping, and athletic movements also require a strong and functional first ray to transmit force and keep the arch intact
The arch, balance, and stability:
- When standing on one foot, the integrity of your arch depends on good first ray strength. The musculature that connects into the first ray turns this structure into a strong ground stabilizer
- It allows you to keep your foot planted and ‘rooted’ to the ground when stability/balance is required. It creates rigidity and control and maintains your arch
Pay attention to inside part of your foot when you walk, stand, balance etc. Developing strength through the first ray will improve function and performance

Hope everyone had an incredible weekend . I can't recommend more such an amazing trail . I keep it low key cause well who wants everyone out there . Spent 6 weeks out on that amazing beach 7 hours away and a grueling hike it is . But amazing place should be on everyone's bucket list . Best I ever felt when I left there . No phone , internet , eat from the land and shower in a spring fed water fall. This was from 2011 but hint it's a very popular and top 5 toughest trails in the world on Kauai .

Anyone preparing for an adventure , hike , race whatever it may be . You need to have resiliency and capacity a buffer from what's in the tank so you always have something to draw from in an emergency . It's unpredictable so preparation is key . Come in and get screened and let's get you as effecient and anti-fragile as possible
