While stuck at home with minimal equipment, it’s sometimes difficult to come up with exercises that target your back muscles. In this video, explains and demonstrates a rowing variation using regular kitchen towels, a partner, and manual resistance.

Per the governor’s executive order closing all fitness and sports performance facilities, all group fitness classes and personal training sessions are suspended until March 30th. However, we are still able to accept physical therapy appointments at both the Wixom and Livonia locations.
We are very sad to hear this news but we know it is for the best. Please stay healthy and continue to practice good hygiene protocols.

Today was Christina’s, one of our group fitness members, last morning of class before moving to Cincinnati. Christina has been training with us since May 11, 2016 and has always been ultra consistent and hardworking!
We’ll miss you in class and we’ll always look forward to you dropping into class when you visit! You’ll always be a part of the FR Wixom family ❤️ Good luck in all of your future endeavors!

A familiar face to the 9:30am group fitness class signed his jersey to go up in the Total Performance Training Center! It’s about time Jharel Cotton’s jersey was added!
Coach John spent this past weekend in Indy at the Elite Fitness and Performance Summit learning from some of the brightest minds in the fitness business industry!

Big Dave getting after it! This morning’s group fitness workout today called for “heavy” sled pushes. Dave wanted to see just how heavy he could push for his final rep. Ended up crushing just over 500 lbs with the weight of the prowler included!

We’ve been working on different variations of deadbugs in our group fitness class programming lately. Here we’ve added a contralateral “push”, adding an isometric contraction of the hip flexor.
The degree of challenge raises noticeably compared to the standard isometric deadbug hold.
There’s really no hiding your level effort as you can typically read the level of effort on your face!
The group is performing each rep for 5 second holds in this video.

The fans were on in the performance center today! With the summer heat upon us, here’s some tips for staying cool and safe while burning calories in the summer heat:
☕️Be cognizant of your caffeine intake. Caffeine has a diuretic effect, meaning it leads to loss of fluids which can lead to dehydration. Try saving your caffeine intake for several hours before or after your workout instead of right before or during your workout.
💧Stay hydrated! Drink plenty of water before, during, and after your workouts!
👕Wear appropriate workout clothing. Try breathable or moisture wicking clothing instead of heavy cotton clothing.
⏱Take breaks. Your body can only take so much heat. Listen to your body and take appropriate breaks.

For these two ladies in the picture, it’s been all about being pain free, moving well, and getting lots of quality work in. They’ve definitely been accomplishing this through consistent workouts in group fitness classes and a routine of recommended maintenance or “prehab” exercises outside of classes.
