Meet our Greenspaces! Part #2
Next up in this series is the Preston St Community Garden!
This greenspace is stewarded and farmed by 4 local gardeners and their extended families, they raise everything from corn and cilantro to kale and squash.
You can spot the handmade trellis structures which allow gardeners to maximize their growing space and incorporate innovative agriculture methods into our urban greenspaces.
This is one of our sites where gardeners are using intercropping, also known as Milpa or "Three Sisters" agriculture to increase production, support pollinators and grow up to 4 crops in the same plot!

Meet Our WCG Greenspaces:
Our first greenspace being featured is the Public Park & Community Garden at 22 Newbury St, Worcester
Fully open to the public, this property includes 6 raised beds, a pergola, benches, walkways, and border gardens that support pollinators like butterflies, birds, and beetles right here in the city.
We have hosted Back to School BBQ events for the neighborhood here in previous Summers at 22 Newbury and hope to bring some free fitness classes to the park this Summer for all to enjoy!
Part of our community development goals include protecting and preserving greenspaces for local residents to use, enjoy, and build community through. These green oases activate our neighborhoods through community garden programming, health and fitness classes, block parties, and offer a space for residents, young and old, to gather, grow and have fun!
