No prior experience needed! Sign up at: https://mobilize.aclum.org/a/trans-joy-quilt-community-art-build
All materials as well as food will be provided.
Please note that the purpose of the event is to create a space for trans and non-binary people to contribute art to the quilt square. We ask that allies and other members of the LGBTQ community inquire about supporting roles you can play at the event. Please email [email protected].

This Month, we're busting common myths about topics affecting the + community.
❌Myth: By repealing laws that criminalize consensual same-sex activity we are “promoting homosexuality".
☑️ Reality: Promoting the equal rights of LGBTQIA+ people is not “promoting homosexuality” – it is highlighting that the same fundamental human rights apply to everyone.
This Month, we're busting common myths about topics affecting the + community.
❌Myth: Gender-neutral bathrooms are exclusively for LGBTQIA+ people; cis-heterosexual people should only use clearly-marked men’s or women’s restrooms.
☑️ Reality: Gender-neutral bathrooms are meant to be used by everyone regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, expression or ability.
There will be no drop-in at Safe Homes next week (July 1-5th).
After a wonderful month of celebrating Pride, we will be taking a break to recharge. As always, our discord is open to chat and hang out with peers!
This Month, we're busting common myths about topics affecting the + community.
❌Myth: It’s perfectly fine to continue referring to a trans person by their birth name once they’ve chosen a new name.
☑️ Reality: This is called “dead-naming”, referring to someone with their dead-name can trigger anxiety among trans-people and it invalidates a trans person’s identity and experience.
It’s best to always address a trans person by both their chosen name as well as the pronouns with which they identify.
If you don’t know their name or pronouns, just ask them, "What is the name and pronoun you go by?"
This Month, we're busting common myths about topics affecting the + community.
❌Myth: Gay people can choose to leave homosexuality.
☑️ Reality: "Reparative" or sexual reorientation therapy — the pseudo-scientific foundation of the ex-gay movement — has been rejected by all the established and reputable American medical, psychological, psychiatric and professional counseling organizations.
This Month, we're busting common myths about topics affecting the + community.
❌Myth: No one is born gay.
☑️ Reality: Modern science cannot state conclusively what causes sexual orientation, but many studies suggest that it is the result of both biological and environmental forces, not a personal "choice."
This Month, we're busting common myths about topics affecting the + community.
❌Myth: Hormonal Replacement Therapy (HRT) is harmful for my child.
☑️ Reality: All medical treatments for trans people are primarily used by cisgender people such as hormone therapy for menopause and patches and gels to fight depression.

hello friends! we will not be having drop-in today, in honor of Juneteenth. come hang with us tomorrow (all ages)!
This Month, we're busting common myths about topics affecting the + community.
❌Myth: I’m worried that if my child goes on hormone-blocking therapy, it may make their life more difficult and they may change their mind later.
☑️ Reality: Going on hormone therapy can help avoid trauma and decrease body dysmorphia, gender disaffirmation, and make transitioning later in life easier.
