2023 Recruit Academy graduation was held this week, badge pinning and the Firefighter's Oath completed the evening. Members from West Valley, Highland and Naches Heights are trained and ready to serve. Congratulations to all, strong work!
Pearl Harbor Day. On Dec. 7, 1941, Engine 6 was the first to respond to Hickam Airfield, 3 Honolulu Firefighters were killed and 6 wounded during the attack becoming the only civilian firefighters awarded the Purple Heart. Among the 2,403 U.S. personnel killed were 16 active duty Navy Firefighters. In this photo crews attempt to extinguish the USS Nevada.
The lighted engine is planned to be out Tuesday’s,Thursday’s and Saturday’s. We are starting in the northeast portion of the District this week. Cowiche Canyon, Scenic working west towards Marble are and Summitview.

American Medical Response (AMR) Yakima is kicking off the season of giving by hosting its third annual “Fill the Ambulance” Food Drive to benefit Northwest Harvest.
Community members are encouraged to bring donations of non-perishable food items, such as peanut butter, canned fruits and vegetables, rice, and baby formulas to Rosauers Supermarkets, located at 410 S. 72nd Avenue in Yakima. The food drive will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, December 9.
According to statistics on hunger in the state of Washington, 22.5 percent of all Yakima County households receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, sometimes referred to as food stamps. In service to the community and those at risk of hunger in Yakima County, American Medical Response, in partnership with Northwest Harvest, is hosting a “Fill the Ambulance” Holiday Food Drive.
Different engine this year but the West Valley Firefighters Association is back with the lighted fire engine this year! First trip out is the Yakima lighted parade tonight 6pm. The engine will tour the District again this year, follow us here for a schedule in the next few days.

Stations 51 and 52 along with auto aid from Yakima responded to a mobile home attic fire just before 6pm tonight off 42nd Ave. Crews got a quick knockdown and are in overhaul.
November is recruitment month, applications are available anytime on our website or can be picked up from our yard signs at Station 53 (Stone & Tieton) and Station 54 (Tampico). Also available M-F 8-5 @ Admin on Zier. Applications are due Nov 30.
Thank You West Valley! Saturday we raised $1846 to provide Thanksgiving meals to WV families in need. Wray's matched all donations allowing us together to provide 123 Turkey dinners for distribution by Ram Landing at the WV Innovation Center.
