We will be BBQing hot dogs along with other summer dishes. Please bring a side dish of your choice. BYOB. We will be having a slip n slide, water balloon contest, and other games. Fun n the Sun!!

We're counting down the hours for the 20th Annual Dorothy Young Electric Light Parade.

This year's theme is "Travel Forward" a homage to the Desert Southwest's past, present, and future.

We'd like to pay tribute to the parade's past, the electric light parade was the brainchild of Dorothy Ann Young. Just like many Yumans Dorothy was a transplant. She was born in Chicago in 1942.

In the early 70s, Dorothy and her family moved to Arizona. It was during her time working as Yuma Crossing National Heritage Area's Events Coordinator that she fell in love with the idea of starting a light parade in Yuma.

Of course, Dorothy reached out to our major utility Arizona Public Service - APS which was the title sponsor for the event. When Dorothy passed away in 2009, the parade was named after her. Twenty years later APS continues to support the Dorothy Young Electric Light Parade.

The parade has since become one of the most anticipated events in the Desert Southwest and it couldn't have been possible without the dream of a Yuman, who wanted to make her community's future just a little bit brighter.

and ends on Main Street and 1st Street.
