Exploring caves without the aid of modern technology was a fascinating endeavor in the past. Recently, we discovered a flambeau deep within a cave in South Africa, hidden beneath a massive boulder wall within a vertical crack. What makes this discovery particularly intriguing is the lack of burn marks on the fabric or cloth used for the flambeau. This raises questions about whether the explorers needed to replace the cloth at this point in their journey, or if they attempted to create a new flambeau altogether. The artifact is truly a beautiful piece that offers a glimpse into the methods and tools used by cave explorers in the past.

Another amazing system, from formations to mycelium networks. Absolutely stunning to follow the stream bed
Unfortunately, not all of my cave conservation missions revolve around the enchantment and marvel of these underground wonders, and how our ecosystem flourishes from the help of pristine cave systems. The harsh reality is that caves are being vandalized, and the delicate cave life is suffering as a result. Graffiti is one of the most detrimental acts one can commit inside a cave. The paint's toxins seep into the soil, affecting the creatures that call the cave home. Additionally, the bats are forced to inhale the toxic fumes, further exacerbating the negative impact. A ripple effect that causes a huge amount of destruction. It is truly disheartening to witness the damage caused by such thoughtless actions.π¦π€π¦π€π¦π€

Monitoring how caves protect our ecosystem. A series of 20+ caves that are not publicly known or accessed, have created a flourishing biodiverse ecosystem in the middle of a buzzing city. Please help us protect these magical and sensitive ecosystems by not polluting or vandalizing the caves. Without the caves we will not have these amazing pockets of life
Exploring a new multi leveled cave is always exciting but the danger is real. One cut rope due to rock fall and one battered caverπ€·
