ILGA World Conference
11-15 November 2024
Cape Town, South Africa
In 2024, the ILGA World Conference will return to Africa for the first time since 1999. A monumental occasion for ILGA World and the two local organisations led by – and working for – le***an, trans, and intersex persons: Iranti and Gender DynamiX. Critically, the theme, “Kwa umoja” is Swahili for “Together” or “In unity” and is a powerful call for unity in these polarised and contentious times, also incorporating the most widely spoken language in Africa, known by over 200 million people.

Happy Nelson Mandela day

🎊🎉 Happy Pride Month!
Unity Within – The Layers of Identity
Let's celebrate the unity and diversity within each of us, as complex and beautiful as the layers of the Earth. 🌍
🏳️🌈Let's celebrate Pride Month by understanding the meaning of each color of rainbow flag:
1. Violet (Spirit) – Symbolizes spirit and pride.
2. Indigo (Serenity) – Represents serenity and calm.
3. Green (Nature) – Conveys nature, growth, and prosperity.
4. Yellow (Sunlight) – Represents sunlight, radiance, and new ideas.
5. Orange (Healing) – Symbolizes healing and celebration.
6. Red (Life) – Represents life, passion, and vitality.
7. Yellow and Purple (Intersex) – Represents intersex people.
8. Pink, Baby Blue, and White (Transgender) – Represents transgender people.
9-10. Black and Brown (Inclusivity) – Represents people of color.
Embrace the complexity of identity and sexual orientation. 🏳️🌈

- Johannesburg - Gauteng - The Fruitbasket
- Kimberly - D'gayle - Northern Cape
- East London - S.H.E - Eastern Cape
- Durban - Transhope - KwaZulu-Natal
- Lutzville - Trans Wellness Project - Western Cape
- Darling - Darling Pride Angels - Western Cape
Let's stand together for equality and justice! ✨

May 1st marks International Workers’ Day, celebrating strides toward equal employment opportunities and standards. Yet, amid these efforts, trans and gender diverse persons still face disproportionate barriers to equitable employment opportunities. Let’s continue advocating for inclusive workplaces where everyone has a fair chance to thrive.

Gender identity and sexual orientation are distinct aspects of identity. While everyone possesses both a gender identity and a sexual orientation, it’s important to note that one’s gender does not dictate their sexual orientation. Transgender individuals may identify as heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, or any other orientation that resonates with them.

Gender DynamiX and HSRC invite all Transgender and Gender Diverse (TGD) persons to partake in a research study that seeks to evaluate factors that have had an impact on their studies/schooling, causing them to discontinue their education.
We would like to identify factors that create an environment within the education system that continually exclude TGD persons in our efforts to create an inclusive and safe learning environment for all. To participate, please email: Cameron Lawrence at [email protected]
