SENEME TO SHINE AS SOLOIST

Seneme Chiluvane, a talented Grade 6 pupil, has been selected to perform as a soloist with the KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra at the prestigious KZN Young Performers' Concert on 12 October at the iconic Playhouse.

This incredible achievement is the result of Seneme's dedication and exceptional talent, as the selection process is known for its rigorous auditions. Competing against a diverse group of young musicians from across KwaZulu-Natal, spanning a wide age range, Seneme's accomplishment is a testament to her remarkable skill and passion for music.

Her performance promises to be a highlight in what will surely be an unforgettable evening of young musical talent!

GLOBAL ESSAY COMPETITION SHORTLIST NO. 2

We are thrilled to announce that Keira Reddy, Grade 11, has also been shortlisted for the prestigious John Locke Institute 2024 Global Essay Prize, just like her sister, Alexia!

As a finalist in the Philosophy Category, Keira receives an invitation to the Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner in London. We are extremely proud of Keira’s achievement, especially given that only 16.9% of the essays submitted were shortlisted. Her essay, along with Alexia's, will now proceed to a third reading by senior academics at Oxford and Cambridge, who will make the final selection.

These accomplishments highlight Durban Girls' College’s commitment to providing a globally relevant education for our pupils, empowering them to excel on the world stage. Congratulations, Keira and Alexia!

NETBALL ACHIEVEMENT

Natal Action Netball recently had their annual awards ceremony. The KZN U12A team received a Silver award for being runners up at the inter provincial tournament held in March. Ané Van Jaarsveld (Grade 6), received an individual award for Most Dedicated player.
