Kleinboet is known as our “baby” Bordeaux blend. This harmonious blend is understated in stature, with both robust and elegant characteristics. The restrained personality of this wine reflects its cooler origins and captures the imagination with its fresh fruit approach.

It has a bright red colour with aromas of purple fruits such as raspberries and blackcurrants, along with underlying savoury aromas of black olive and dried herbal spice.
On the palate, it offers generous tannin density and fruit intensity; supple yet full, with persistent length. Sweet herbal spices like rosemary, thyme, and mint providing freshness on the palate.

Our iconic Cabernet franc is true to his name! Given the extreme viticulture and growing conditions of Sondagskloof, Swartskaap is a wine that challenges most viticultural and oenological rationale.

Our aim is to be meticulous, creating something that will not just please, but hopefully shift boundaries.

Due to the cool climate conditions, in the latter part of the season, our Cabernet franc enjoys and benefits from an extended period of “hang time” on the vine, contributing to the wine's concentration and density.

In the cellar, the grapes undergo 10 weeks of extended maceration after fermentation before spending 18 months in a combination of 1st and 2nd fill French oak barrels. The wine then develops further elegance and complexity while being bottle matured in our cellar for a further 18-24 months prior to its release date.
