We have come such a long way: from only knowing a few alphabet sounds to being able to write words with beginning blends! From not being able to blend and segment words to reading sentences!

So super proud of these grade 1s and 2s!

When concepts click through kinaesthetic learning - magic happens! Our Grade 2 learners have been working on their ‘Magic e’ words - such delight in their faces when they learn how to apply the knowledge.

Our amazing educator in action! miette_boddenbergTeacher Miette works with her grade 3 learners teaching them about plurals and other parts of speech. They just adore her creative and fun lessons!

The grade 3’s have been learning about question words- how to use them, how to spell them, what they mean and how to find the information that they are asking for.

Do you know that learning the visual shapes of letters in words helps with spelling and recall?

Movement is so integral in the learning process and helps regulate the nervous system.

Whole class teaching in grade 2 at Hout Bay Primary where learners were working with letter puzzles to make up words with a ‘th’ sound.

The grade 1’s are struggling with their group 4 phonics. So today we practiced making our sounds using wool. They had such fun and helped each other too!

The grade 2 learners have been working on their understanding of beginning and end blends in words. They enjoyed this hands-on practical activity of building words they had learnt. Not only did they learn phonics but they also learnt to work together, to problem solve and apply knowledge.

Today we learned two new sounds v and w and reinforced our learning with a fun crown making activity. Also practicing cutting and fine motor skills. The grade 1’s just loved being kings and queens for a day!
