Oral hygiene habits you can implement into your child’s routine‼️

1️⃣ Did you know that flossing should begin as soon as teeth begin to fit together? Yup, that’s right. Flossing can even begin from the age of two. Assist your child to floss. This builds good oral hygiene from a young age and can assist in minimising cavities 🙌🏻.

2️⃣ Take your child to the dentist every 6 months. Your child’s first visit to the dentist can begin as soon as teeth are formed. Getting your child used to the dental environment and sitting in the dental chair from a young age helps to minimise dental anxiety 🦷✨.

3️⃣ Don’t threaten to take your child to the dentist as a punishment. “If you don’t behave and listen, I’ll call the dentist” - sound familiar? Speaking about the dentist through the lens of punishment only increases dental anxiety as your child will begin to associate the dentist with pain and fear. This makes dental visits more challenging when your child really does need it 😷.

4️⃣ Try to incorporate healthy snacks into lunchboxes. Sugary, gummy sweets stick to the surface of the teeth making it easier for plaque to form 🍬🍭.

5️⃣ Incorporate brushing teeth into your child’s night time routine. When your child is used to implementing oral hygiene from a young age, it is more likely that they will continue this habit into adulthood 🙏🏻✨.
