Nourishing our pets' well-being starts with proper care at every step! Remember, following the proper procedure when thawing our raw pet food correctly is as crucial as the love you share. Here are 5 easy to follow steps to preserve the goodness and keep tails wagging with joy:

Step 1 - Remove the frozen serving from your freezer to prep for tomorrow’s meals.

Step 2 - While still frozen, use scissors or a knife to cut the packaging open. If you attempt to do this when the product is thawed, it will be messy.

Step 3 - Put the raw food in a container in your fridge to begin thawing. This is the best and recommended method of thaw.

Step 4 - Once thawed, mix all the contents together, including the thawed juice as this contains additional nutrients.

Step 5 - Serve as required and do not leave out for extended periods of time.

Here are a few extra tips that are not only helpful, but also extremely important:

- Do not thaw inside the original plastic packaging. ALWAYS remove the contents and put it in a separate container.
- Use two containers for ease. One for thawing and one for serving.
- If you don’t have space, thaw more meals at a time. Be sure to serve within 2 days.
- NEVER use a microwave. Not even the defrost mode.
- NEVER attempt to thaw in hot water. You can use the cold water method if you really need to.

We cannot stress the importance of following these instructions correctly. You may be getting away with skipping a step here and there but do realise that it could adversely affect your pet’s health.

Remember, you're not just thawing your pet’s food, you're ensuring a feast of health and happiness for your furkids!

Are you worried that garlic is toxic for your dogs and cats? Don’t be!

Garlic has long known to possess antimicrobial, anti-cancer fighting properties and has many more benefits that outweigh the positive uses of it than what is being portrayed by negative media.

The study that refers to garlic being toxic refers to a study conducted by a Japanese scientist Osamu Yamato, where animals were fed a garlic extract equivalent to 50 cloves of garlic per day, that is approximately 245 cloves per week over a period of 7 days. This type of dose would be toxic to humans not only dogs.

In 2018, the same scientist conducted the same test and this is what he and his group had to say:

“The long-term oral administration of the dose of 90 mg/kg/day for 12 weeks did not show any adverse effects in dogs. Furthermore, the administration upregulated the gene expressions of canine NRF2 and NRF2-regulated phase II antioxidant enzymes. These results suggest that might safely contribute to the health of dogs provided that the appropriate dosage is used.”

In our opinion, most of the websites that claim that garlic is toxic should update their websites from the same sources they got their initial information from.
