Drove to my village, it got me thinking of the year 1994… many of our elders who lived to see the day of freedom filled with joy and hope. My Mom my ancestor had given up the life of electricity and tarmac roads and employment.

We came to our fathers village so we can connect with our roots. No running water, pushing wheel barrows to fetch water at the tribal council offices.

Candles weren’t for fancy candle light dinners or creating a romantic ambiance. It was an expensive commodity. Using a candle to study at night, parafin stove or coal stove.

Everyone was up at dawn to put that mark. ✖️ long queues moving from one station to the next… they voted a dream realized

When Mom passed she had that electricity in her home, running water. And I coming from the village had already graduated with a Masters, I from the dusty village of Majaneng ga Kgosi Kekana. Today I drove home in my own car about 50km from my place of residence …

Bitter sweet, I made my mark because I need to be the change I want to see I’m grateful for the sacrifices that were made for me to be where I am.

I pray for a better South Africa, for Africa as a whole_ change is not just our words our actions counts. And accountability by those we put in power I hope they are ready this time around because we are sick and tired of being sick and tired we want to raise the standard

According to WHO-, one in seven 10-19-year-olds experiences a mental disorder, accounting for 13% of the global burden of disease in this age group. Let us be compassionate and supportive to our little ones- after all they are our future. Their mental health matters ❤️
