Hepatitis is inflammation of the liver.
Most people living with viral hepatitis donโt know they have it because they might not have any symptoms.
Hepatitis B and C infections can progress to liver cancer if not treated.
A simple blood test can tell you if you have hepatitis B or C.
People who have had a medical procedure overseas, or have procedure that involves sharing injecting equipment are at higher risk of hepatitis C.
The good news is there is a cure for hepatitis C.
You are at risk of Hepatitis B if you were born in Africa, Asia, or other regions with high rates of hepatitis B.
Although there is no cure for hepatitis B, there are medications that prevent further damage to the liver.
PEACE Multicultural Services supports people to get tested, and provides support to people diagnosed with hepatitis B or hepatitis C.

SA Health has contributed funds towards PEACE programs.
This week Relationships Australia SAโs PEACE Multicultural Services teamed up with Hepatitis SA and SA Health to provide free liver scans at Armada Arndale Shopping Centre in the lead-up to World Hepatitis Day!
A liver scan shows if your liver is healthy and can determine if you should have further tests for a range of conditions.
Over 200,000 people are living with Viral Hepatitis in Australia, and more than 16,000 in South Australia alone. Living with Viral Hepatitis increases the risk of liver disease and liver cancer.
Unfortunately between 20-25% of people living with the virus are unaware of it and undiagnosed. Testing is crucial so that treatment can start.
The good news is there is a cure for hepatitis C, and while there is no cure for hepatitis B, there are medications and treatment that prevent further damage to the liver.

National Reconciliation Week is a time for us all to learn about the truth of our history. This yearโs theme โNow More Than Everโ is a reminder that the fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people must continue.
The dates for Reconciliation Week, 27 May to 3 June commemorate two significant events - the successful 1967 referendum and the High Court Mabo decision.
We commit ourselves to truth-telling, learning from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and culture, and โwalking together in harmonyโ (Uncle Lewis Yarlupurka OโBrien).
Today, on National Sorry Day, we acknowledge the ongoing pain and intergenerational trauma caused by the Government policy of forced removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, now known as the Stolen Generations.
The policy severed family ties and separated First Nations peoples from their communities, cultures and languages. It also removed children from their Country, which forms a core aspect of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander life and identity.
The first National Sorry Day was held on 26 May 1998, one year after the Bringing Them Home report was tabled in Parliament.
We encourage everyone to learn more about the story of Sorry Day. We continue our commitment to truth-telling and learning from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and culture.

Today we reflect on the devastating impact of forced adoption in Australia on children and families, when an estimated 250,000 babies were removed from their mothers between 1940s to late 1970s.
Eleven years ago, the Prime Minister of the day, Julia Gillard apologised and formally recognised this dark chapter in Australia's history, and the trauma that is still felt today by children who were removed and their families.
Since then, the Government has funded Forced Adoption Support Services for people impacted by forced adoption.
These funds enable organisations like RASA to provide counselling and individualised support to those affected by forced adoption.
