Dubai 2023 U18 Tour
Coached By Jason Gillespie

27/04/2022

Our last game was rescheduled as a T/20 back at the sevens ground playing the Rajasthan Royals again but this time their U14 boys. Our boys were up to the challenge again. We batted first and scored 3/137. Riley Tissen scored an unbeaten 78 Rayan Bihari 22 and Lincoln Allen with a chance up the order scored a solid 14 not out working with Riley to get the score to 137.
Our bowling although plagued with wides again was still tight enough to restrict them to 8/95.
Best bowling today was Harvey Stephens who was the second player on tour to be on a hattrick his figures were 2 overs 4/3 well done Harvey.
Other notable figures were
Puffin Biswas 1/7
James Murphy 1/6
Nate McCleary 1/17
Finally I just want to thank a few people, Thanks to everybody who helped with scoring especially Amanda who did the bulk of it.
To the parents who pitched in when drinks were needed.
Thanks to the photographers.
Finally thanks to the staff who worked tirelessly with the boys both ups and downs but overall the great atmosphere and memories that have been created for the families. Thanks to those people who also helped care for my foot in the last few days it was greatly appreciated. I hope that the tour was everything you expected and more. Look forward to sharing some great stories and memories soon.

It’s been a few days and we are all now home my last two game posts are here now. I as you probably all know know suffered a nasty burn on my feet that kept me inactive for two games. The second to last game was rescheduled to Sharjah Stadium the boys were very lucky to play at a test venue we are very great full to Sporta for getting this organised. After a bit of a tense start with their coach suggesting to Sedgy that they wouldn’t toss and they would bat first so the game would go close to getting 40 overs, and us telling him to get S_ _ _ _ ed we said we would back our boys abilities even if they were playing 14 year olds and that we did.
We batted first and batted out all of our 40 overs scoring an impressive 8/190. Top scorer was Riley Tissen with 59, James Murphy with his second 50 on the trot with 52, and Harvey Stephens batted well again with 32.
The bowlers were fired up and showed it with them losing their first 4 wickets for 40 we finally held rheum to 9/178 to hold on to a great win and wipe the smiles off the faces of the Zayed Academy. Puffin Biswas was the best of the bowlers with 3/24.
Harvey Stephens 1/26
Lincoln Allen 1/12
Nate MCCleary 1/11
The boys fielding was also exceptional with 3 run outs.

22/04/2022

Today we ventured out to the sevens stadium for a T/20 Game vs IJC Academy. We bowled first and did a great job restricting them to 6/124 off their 20 overs. Nate picked up 2 wickets Brad, James and Rayan all taking 1.
We then batted and made the runs in 14 overs with Rayan Bihari 27, Puffin Biswas 31, and Riley Tissen top scoring with 38. Harvey Stephens also batted well until being run out for 14.

22/04/2022

Well another warm one but nowhere near what it has been. Today we travelled to Ajman about 1 hour 10minutes from Dubai to play Shazam x1?
The boys looked a good match up. Shazam batted first and posted a good total of 9/199 after their forty overs. The star with the ball today was Brad Wilson with 4/36
Lincoln Allen 1/43
Evan Beavan 1/27
James Murphy 1/26
Puffin Biswas 1/20
We bowled tidily but once again gave away too many wides and after having them 6/46 were unable to finish them off.
We started well with that with an opening stand of 54 Nate MCCleary first out for 17.Jude Thomas batted well again for a well compiled 35. The batter of the day was James Murphy with a well compiled 41. we made a good chase of it but pulled up 6 runs short being bowled out on the last ball for 194.

Second game today brings on another great challenge not only the cricket but the heat.
Game 2 versus the ICC Academy and how nice to play against boys of a similar age.
Once again skipper did the right thing and won the toss this time we chose to bowl.the ICC innings built momentum finally scoring 112 in their Alloted 20 overs.
Puffin Biswas 1/15
James Murphy 1/23
Max Tresidder 2/15
Lincoln Allen 1/8
Being the best of the bowlers.
We then set out in pursuit steadily losing our first wicket at 52 Jude Thomas run out for 19. Harvey came and was looking good after hitting a four and a single until he was out for 5.
Ryan Bihari was next out for a well compiled 37. before Nate MCCleary and Riley tissen wer clinical in finishing off the game making the runs with 5 balls to spare. Nate 11 NO and Riley 28 NOA great win against good opposition.

18/04/2022

Well a tough Introduction to the UAE for the boys with a temperature of around 40. It didn’t help that half of their boys drove to the ground.

We scored a respectable 128 off 30 overs ,with Harvey Stephens top scoring with 24 and the two smaller boys in the team Max and Jett putting on an unbeaten 20 for the last wicket.
Unfortunately our bowling struggled against the strength of some of the boys in the opposition with Dubai College posting198 in their 30 overs.

A good lesson learnt today that we can’t afford to give away 31 extras. So all in all a good first hit out, we look forward to the next challenge against the ICC Academy. A big thank you to Amanda Murphy for scoring and playing nurse for my feet,
