Northern Adelaide Senior College
Welcome to the official Northern Adelaide Senior College page.
Northern Adelaide Senior College (previously Para West Adult Campus) is a secondary school in South Australia, exclusively for people over the age of 16. For the past 25 years, we've helped thousands of adults return to secondary school studies and successfully complete their South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE). In 2015, we will move to a refurbished building within the Elizabeth TAFE
Stage 2 Outdoor Education students completed their last camp of the year at Deep Creek conservation park.
The wind added an extra layer of excitement to our outdoor adventures, providing us the opportunity to sleep with the sound of the wind howling through the trees. Nature sure made its presence known!
Despite the gusty conditions, we made the most of it with sheltered spots for group activities. Thanks to everyone who braved the elements with us and turned a windy adventure into a memorable one.
Early Childhood Educators’ Day recognises and celebrates the work of Australia’s educators in early learning services for their contribution to the wellbeing and healthy development of young children in their care.
We'd like to give a big shoutout to our creche workers and all the work that they do for our smallest learners here at NASC.
Last Thursday’s Music and Drama performance was truly awesome, and we couldn’t have done it without you!
A huge thank you to our incredible staff for their dedication and hard work, our talented students for their breathtaking performances, and every single one of you who came out to support and enjoy the show.
Remember to Wear it Purple tomorrow to celebrate LGTBQIA+ youth!
This day is important at NASC because we try to:
💜 Advocate for and empower rainbow young people
💜 Celebrate and promote the value of diversity and inclusion
💜 Raise awareness about s*xuality, s*x and gender identity and challenge harmful social cultures
💜 Champion rainbow role-models to help young people establish the confidence to be who they are.
We'd love to see a wave of purple throughout our school on Friday as a show of support and solidarity with our LGBTQIA+ students. :)

When we all feel like we belong, bullying struggles to find a place. It's about embracing who we are, respecting everyone's differences and standing up together against unkindness.
Belonging means we all have a role in preventing bullying. We're encouraged to speak up and create a safe place where everyone feels supported and respected, and our voices are heard and valued.
Come to the HUB Rooftop at recess to sign the pledge for Bullying No Way day.
There will be light refreshments available.
This year, NASC has been actively involved in a pilot program aimed at boosting youth volunteering across South Australia.
Today our volunteering students had the honour of meeting with Tony Piccolo MP to discuss their transformative experiences with the pilot program.
The program, which uses a dynamic app to track and celebrate volunteering efforts, has not only motivated our students but also enhanced their resumes with detailed summaries of their contributions. It has been a game-changer in recognising and valuing our students' dedication to community service.
Kudos to our amazing student volunteers for their hard work and to everyone involved in making this initiative a success!
Here are some of our NASC students getting into the spirit of Book Week. I wonder what they're reading? 🤔
If you have not done so yet, head to HUB Level 2 Open Space to pick up your next weekend read. All books are free and we would love to see them go. :)
This Friday we're recognising Bullying No Way Week.
This year's theme is Everyone Belongs. At NASC, belonging is like a superpower against bullying. It's what brings us together, makes us stronger, and helps us understand and support each other.
We encourage all staff and students to wear a pop of purple and sign the pledge on the HUB Rooftop at Recess this Friday.
Light refreshments will also be available to attending students.

Last week we had a range of NAIDOC themed mindful activities for students to get involved in during their classes or breaks in the MEZZ open space. Students developed their understanding of Aboriginal culture and heritage through a range of different activities that they coloured as well as test their knowledge through a range of puzzles and quizzes.
In ART 101 students were taught the history of Aboriginal Art and the materials, media and techniques developed as well as the traditional and contemporary colours and pigments used in their art. Gail Hall was exploring charcoal while others from the class were colouring a series of Australian animals most commonly used in the stories of the Aboriginal Dreamtime.
NAIDOC Celebrations continue this week.
Last Tuesday, staff were able to try some warm damper with Quandong Jam, a native peach known in the Central and Southern areas of Australia.
Food and Hospitality students have prepared Wattleseed Muffins and Native Jam Drops for students to try at lunchtime. These will be available from Level 2 near the Indigenous art activities on offer.
The MEZZ also has an Indigenous art station near the kitchen for students to try if they need a Brain Break or between lessons.
Panna Cotta Olympics happening at Food and Hospitality today! 😋
Parents and carers of school-aged children and young people are invited to complete the annual parent survey.
Completing the annual parent survey will give NASC feedback to help us understand:
• what we are doing well
• where we can improve
• what is really important to you as a parent.
The survey takes less than 10-minutes to complete.

This year’s Outdoor Education camp at Kuitpo Forest offered a blend of adventure and learning, featuring both the excitement of orienteering and the thrill of tree climbing for our students.
Despite the cold temperatures overnight, students were greeted with bright, sunny days - perfect for exploration. They had ample opportunities to connect with nature and refine their essential outdoor skills, all while preparing for their upcoming camping adventure in Deep Creek later this term.
Congratulations to Jas H. who was the recipient of the Top Volunteer Award through her involvement in the volunteering program that NASC is piloting with six other schools for the .
She received her certificate from The Honourable Blair Boyer MP and Senator Nat Cook MP at Flinders Street yesterday.
Well done on your achievement Jas!
It was great to see many students trying kangaroo tail for the first time yesterday as part of celebrations.
