This is a tiny peek at what living with ADHD can look like, well for me anyway.
Anyone who knows me or who has been to our house will be surprised to see these photos of what a sh*tshow hurricane Rae-Anne can stir up in just minutes.
Today is my first full day up since surgery and I’m still not feeling the best from the flu. However all things must be done, NOW!
It went something like this
Scroll in bed, buy some stuff, rewind show that was for background noise - at least 15 times. Forget what I was doing, what was I buying? Retrace steps and begin again. Then rewind show again. Rinse and repeat.
Have shower. With YouTube playing on my iPad so that my brain doesn’t send me down rabbit holes of things to do, immediately. Probably should do some mosaicing, I got all of my gear out on 18 May before the great fall of 2024.
Get dressed, while making cuppa, put load of washing on, and begin to install new shower shelf in bathroom.
Go to kitchen to make an omelet. Decide that labels must be printed immediately for various containers, pull containers out, decant stuff, crack eggs, go to backyard to pick onions, hang washing. Make cuppa. Where are my glasses? Where are my AirPods? Make more labels.
Decide what I want from IKEA, suddenly I must have a new lounge rug, this morning. Send to Ally to get for me.
Continue making omelet, which has evolved into a bento box. Order things for laundry from Amazon. Take washing in, leave on piles on back table and laundry bench.
Measure sone stuff I’m selling this morning on marketplace. Make videos for buyers.
WHERE are my glasses and AirPods? I can’t be productive without a podcast. Listen on speaker. Make various items for Bento.
Rearrange papers, find clean clothes piles all over from laundry to bedroom. Must get Shanton to get some boxes down from the high pantry cupboards.
Set up robo vacuum after weeks of it sitting there, well Ally did. Sit with satisfied grin as this magical piece of technology does its thing. Must remember to give Malaika ear drops oh and they need a bath. Should I buy clippers? Maybe later. Delete some photos from phone. Check to do lists, well one of 40 ++ to do lists. Do I need an online shopping order from Woolies today?
Where are my glasses and AirPods?
Go to use bathroom and find forgotten shelf project that was abandoned earlier for shinier objects and sitting there are my glasses and AirPods!!
Sort random things.
Pick random weeds.
Assemble Bento box.
Eat said Bento box. Well some of it. Bored now.
Should I change the sheets?
Sort one pantry shelf haven’t opened in a while.
Look for saucepan to return to Claire. Pull all pans out while looking and leave them there to put away later.
Turn to look at kitchen. Good lord what have I done!?!
Watch YouTube, drink tea and hope that it will magically clean itself.
I feel so seen.
ADHD + auto immune nonsense = pushing through doesn’t work.
Feeling this on every level.

It occurred to Pooh and Piglet that they hadn't heard from Eeyore for several days, so they put on their hats and coats and trotted across the Hundred Acre Wood to Eeyore's stick house. Inside the house was Eeyore.
"Hello, Eeyore," said Pooh.
"Hello, Pooh. Hello Piglet," said Eeyore, in a Glum Sounding Voice.
"We just thought we'd check in on you," said Piglet, "because we hadn't heard from you, and so we wanted to know if you were okay."
Eeyore was silent for a moment. "Am I okay?" he asked, eventually. "Well, I don't know, to be honest. Are any of us really okay? That's what I ask myself. All I can tell you, Pooh and Piglet, is that right now I feel really rather Sad, and Alone, and Not Much Fun To Be Around At All. Which is why I haven't bothered you. Because you wouldn't want to waste your time hanging out with someone who is Sad, and Alone, and Not Much Fun To Be Around At All, would you now."
Pooh glanced at Piglet, and Piglet glanced at Pooh, and they both settled, one on each side of Eeyore in his twig abode.
Eeyore looked at them in surprise. "What are you doing?"
"We're sitting here with you," said Pooh, "because we are your friends. And true friends don't care if someone is feeling Sad, or Alone, or Not Much Fun To Be Around At All. True friends are there for you anyway. And so here we are."
"Oh," said Eeyore. "Oh." And the three of them sat there in silence, and while Pooh and Piglet said nothing at all; somehow, almost imperceptibly, Eeyore started to feel a very tiny little bit better.
Because Pooh and Piglet were There.
No more; no less.

I program Alexa to wake us in the morning and for the last couple of weeks, this has been the song I ask her to play. It's a beautiful ear worm to start the day. If you don't know this song, do yourself a favour and play it. Now!
Memories of 1978 abound. Times of roller skating, swimming in our own pool and Shelly Beach, 10 cent bags of mixed lollies from the corner shop, sun baking in baby oil (yep we did that!) making mixed tapes, calling the radio stations to request our favourite songs and more.....
Scott Fitzgerald & Yvonne Keeley - If I Had Words Nice love song from 1977 with a litte reggae touch. Good quality, DVD source.
Anyone else feeling this?

What a lovely find! Smiles for days. :)
I watch a lot of YouTube. Minimalism, crime, cults, art and everything in between. I have heard about these types of videos where Korean housewives share their cleaning routines, but not watched one until today.
There is something ridiculously soothing to my senses about this.
I’m overstimulated, overtired, mentally and physically exhausted, riddled with pain and extreme fatigue and just got lost watching this for a delightful 20 minutes.
Sensory soothing is sorely needed and who would have thought I’d find some soothing watching this?
I don’t share for sympathy or attention, I share in case someone in a similar situation finds a little oasis of calm in this unexpected corner of the internet.

The concept that empathy is a finite resource suggests that individuals have a limited capacity to understand and share the feelings of others. It’s a perspective that acknowledges the emotional toll and cognitive effort involved in empathising, and it underscores the importance of self-care and boundaries in maintaining emotional well-being. However, some argue that with practice and emotional regulation skills, empathy can be cultivated and expanded. I see both of these viewpoints as valid to a degree. I believe the finite aspect to be true, but we can also cultivate and expand our ability to provide empathy, but this is only possible by honouring our limits and boundaries. I also feel that our limits vary on a regular basis. On some days my empathy levels are high and feel limitless, on others, not so much. I’d love to hear your thoughts..

Mohamed Aziz, a 72-year-old bookseller, living in Rabat, Morocco, spends 6 to 8 hours a day reading books. Having read over 5000 books in French, Arabic, and English, he remains the oldest bookseller in Rabat, spending more than 43 years in the same location. When asked about leaving his books unattended outside, where they could potentially be stolen, he responded that those who can't read don't steal books, and those who can, aren't thieves.
