This past weekend’s Victorian Age Championship was quite an exciting one for the talented young diver, Taya Argus. Competing in the 14/15 girls platform event, she not only clinched the gold medal but also smashed her personal best by more than 25 points. Not stopping there, Taya went on to dominate the 3-metre event as well, once again taking home the gold medal and setting a new personal best by over 20 points. Her consistent improvement and impressive results are a testament to her talent and commitment to the sport. In the hotly contested 14/15 girls 1-metre event, Taya placed a commendable 4th, showcasing her versatility and skill across all diving disciplines. To cap off her successful campaign, Taya teamed up with Henry Gibson in the 14/18 Mixed Synchro event, where they emerged victorious, claiming yet another gold medal for their efforts. These outstanding performances also secured her qualification for the upcoming national championships, a well-deserved accomplishment for all her hard work and dedication.

But Taya was not the only diver in MelAm to excel at the state championships. Paul Rankin secured the title of 35-39 years 3-metre state champion, and qualifying for nationals.
Even the youngest member of the team, Ani Weerakkody, made his mark at the championships. Competing in his first state championships in the boys 11 & under category, he finished in a respectable 4th place, coming within a mere 1.4 points of his personal goal.
Congratulations to Taya, Paul, Ani, on their outstanding performances! 🤩🤩

The Australian Diving Nationals have just concluded, and the athletes from the club have shown impressive performances. The competition sets a high standard, and the club's athletes have shown they have what it takes to compete at this level. It's a great achievement to compete at the national level, and both Taya and Tyleigh should feel proud of themselves.
