Melbourne Senior Basketball Tournament
Biannual open-age basketball tournament. A-E Grades - Men,
It is with great sadness that we are announcing the cancellation of the 2022 Christmas Carnival.
Despite having a booking in place with our host venue, we were recently advised that this booking would not be honoured. We have endeavoured to find another location suitable for an event of our size, but have been unable to do so.
We understand this news will be extremely disappointing for all the teams who were looking forward to playing in December.
We will be back in June 2023 for our Kings Birthday Tournament.
14 hours and 30min to tip off!
Preparation for the Melbourne Senior Basketball Tournament
-Dinner Carb loading!!! You have 4 games to play and potentially a finals on Monday
-Water stay hydrated
- Get some shots up to make sure you are on point!
- Lastly watch some nba highlights and sit back and think... I can do that (mindset)
Make sure you complete your player registration. Speak to your team manager. No registration no balling.
As for the day! Saturday 11th of June at MSAC
We are located in the main hall of MSAC! Look for the MSBT logo at the front. This is our biggest Tournament yet so there will be plenty of people around to ask.
We will be located between Court 1 and 2 so if you have and questions at all feel free to approach. On the day we will have Kate, Britt, Tyler and myself Aaron plus plenty of volunteers.
Remember to bring water and a towel!
We look forward to seeing everyone and make sure you like and follow our page to see some pictures of the day!

Hi all,
Thank you to the many teams who reached out to us to indicate they would be keen to play in our Christmas Carnival should the event be able to proceed.
Sadly, without a firm commitment from our venue, we are left with no choice but to cancel the event.
We understand this is disappointing news for all of you who are keen to get back into tournament basketball. We are looking forward to seeing you all again in 2022 at our Queens Birthday Tournament.
If you haven’t already, please follow us on social media via the links below.
See you in 2022!
MSBT Team
Good news!
Pending approval from both the Victorian Government and our venue, we intend to hold our Christmas Tournament as scheduled on the 11th & 12th of December.
Entries will not open until the event is approved to proceed - however we are reaching out to all contacts to get a feel for how many teams intend to enter. This will assist us in developing our COVID-safe plan and ensuring we have sufficient courts, referees and staff to stage the event.
If you plan to enter your team, please submit your details via this link. There is no payment or commitment required at this stage.
We can't wait to see you all in December!
MSBT Team
It is with great sadness that we write to inform you of the cancellation of the 2021 Queens Birthday tournament. After discussions with relevant authorities it is clear that despite the potential of the hard lockdown being lifted on the 11th, restrictions on travel and competitive indoor sport for adults are likely to remain in place.
Refunds will be processed today.
After the cancellation of both of our tournaments in 2020, we were looking forward to catching up with you all over the Queen's Birthday weekend. Team entries had more than doubled in size from the previous tournament, and we were excited for our largest tournament yet.
Despite this setback, we are looking towards the end of the year and our Christmas Carnival to be held on the 11th & 12th of December. We hope to see you there!
MSBT Team
Unfortunately, we are still in limbo regarding next weekend's tournament.
As soon as we receive further information we will be able to provide you with a more detailed update. The tournament proceeding will be contingent on both the government lifting the lockdown and indoor sport being permitted. Hopefully, we will have a better idea in the next few days.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at any time.
MSBT Team
Just a reminder that entries close for the Queens Birthday Tournament this Monday the 31st of May.
Given the current lockdown - we are happy for teams to email through their entry to [email protected] and we will invoice you for your entry once it is confirmed the tournament can proceed.
With the 7-day circuit breaker lockdown announced today by the Victorian government, there is potential for our Queen's Birthday tournament to be unable to proceed as planned.
We are working to ensure the event will be able to continue should the lockdown be lifted in time and basketball be permitted. Should we be unable to hold the event during the Queens Birthday weekend, the tournament will be canceled.
We would like to reiterate that we will be providing a full refund to all teams should the event be unable to proceed.
In the meantime, if you were planning on entering the tournament before the close of entries on the 31st of May we would appreciate it if you could reach out and inform us of your intent to enter should the tournament proceed. Our email address is [email protected].
This will assist us in ensuring we have sufficient courts and referees available should we be able to proceed.
Stay safe!
