It is time to return to the clinic after welcoming our beautiful baby boy into this world.

I will be returning to the clinic on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting from Tuesday the 6th of February. Appointments are limited therefore if you would like to book an appointment please get in touch via DM or phone ASAP.

Online bookings are disabled at the moment but will be available again soon.

When I was first starting out in the fitness industry I was like many of you and I was caught up in the toxic fitness culture of all or nothing. I was stuck in a cycle of yoyo dieting and punishing myself with exhausting exercise sessions for falling off the “bandwagon.” The thought of having the perfect before and after photo was the most important aspect of my exercising and dieting.

It wasn’t until many years later after my own health issues and listening to other womens battles of trying to lose weight I thought there must be a better option to exercise without the need to punish ourselves.I had lost my love for movement and dreaded having to workout.

After doing my own research I stumbled across the concept of intuitive movement and nutrition. After going down a rabbit hole I knew I wanted to implement these concepts on a personal level but also as a health professional. This is where the idea of opening a private studio space dedicated to mindful movement came to life.

I sought guidance from .masson_ep to build a better understanding of how to align my work and personal life in a weight neutral manner. I am continuing to develop my understanding in this area and every day I have to work on my own internalised fatphobia. 2024 is looking bright and I can not wait to return to work with my current and new clients to find suitable sustainable movement options for you and work together to build healthier relationships with movement and ourselves.

Know that you always have the power to say no to toxic fitness and diet culture and say yes to intuitive movement and nutrition. Health is not determined by the number on the scales!

Hey! 👋 I'm Katie I am the owner of Acacia Exercise Physiology. Since I have been missing in action for a while, I thought I would take the time to reintroduce myself.

Get to know me with 10 random facts about me!

1. I’m an Accredited Exercise Physiologist and I am passionate about helping people build a positive relationship with movement.

2. I first became a personal trainer in 2015 and started my career in a small boutique group training studio.

3. My favourite childhood memory is having dance parties in the lounge room, and I still love to have a boogie on the dance floor.

4. My husband and I have a pet dog named Bruce the Beagle who is turning 10 this year. He is very mischievous and keeps us on our toes.

5. When I was little my dream was to own a pet retreat and I would spend hours drawing up designs.

6. I enjoy walking in nature and love chasing waterfalls. Fun fact: My husband proposed at Triplet Falls in the Great Otway Park.

7. My husband hates when I say “So I have been thinking..” as it usually means I have a new project lined up for him. (Lucky he is a Carpenter and can bring my ideas to life.)

8. My biggest fear is animals with wings, moths, butterflies, birds, bats, etc..

9. My biggest accomplishment is taking a leap of faith and starting my own business.

10. I am an advocate of intuitive movement practices, and I am learning to be flexible with my movement and complete movement that brings me joy while letting go of rigid movement rules.

Wednesday Wisdom: Daily Mindfulness

Mindful activties help us to activate our parasympathetic nervous system allowing our body to rest and relax. Many of us live in the world with an overstimulated sympathetic nervous system (flight or fight response). Practicing daily mindfulness can shift the way our nervous system reacts to stimuli and/or triggers which can help reduce pain, anxiety and stress.

Take this a reminder to practice daily mindfulness even if it is only a moment out of your busy day.

A little reminder exercise doesn’t have to be a punishment for your body. Exercising can be for more than just your physical appearance ☺️

A gentle reminder that exercise is a celebration of your body.⁠

If you have a bad relationship with exercise and find yourself dreading it, chatting to an expert might help. ⁠

Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs) are trained in behaviour change and can help you to find intrinsic motivation that resonates with you and will keep you on track long-term. They can also help you step up your exercise levels in a safe and gradual way that is sustainable.⁠
