I have written about soy in the past (and have even done a Youtube video of it). I get questioned all the time about soy and it being "dangerous as it creates oestrogen in the body." This is inaccurate.
Have a read of my series on soy to find out more about this complete plant protein.

I have done a lot of food allergy and food intolerance testing in my clinic for over a decade!
What do you think are the most common intolerances people have?
Gluten intolerance?
No, the most common foods that people are reacting to are eggs and dairy!
There can be some really random foods that people have never eaten or never suspected show up on their list. The results are not the end of the world and don't necessarily mean those foods need to be avoided forever either!
If you think you have a food intolerance/sensitivity and would like to investigate further, reach out to book a consult with me and I can go through the options.

We nearly lost our beloved Pumba this week to a paralysis tick (yes in the coldest winter week we've had in se qld)!
He has made a remarkable recovery that the vet can not believe how well and how quickly he has come back. He was paralysed in the back legs, couldn't breathe or swallow properly earlier in the week. He stayed in hospital for a few nights and came home to us last night.
He's sporting a cool new haircut, but taking it in his stride like the Warrior cat that he is!!! His fur is so incredibly thick, they had to do a "Tick clip" to make sure there was only tick! He feels like a nearly shawn sheep now.
We are so grateful the week ended the way that it has and not how it could have. 🙏🙏🙏
Give your fur baby an extra hug!

Do you only eat orange sweet potato (kumera) or do you also love the purple and white varieties?

No one seems to drink enough water in general that I chat with, but definitely people don't drink as much water in winter as they don't feel thirsty or hot.
Pay attention to what liquids you do consume in winter though. Are you drinking lots of tea or coffee - more than usual? Dehydration can be worse in winter with lots of external heating.
Or are you drinking more herbals teas or having more soups?
You don't necessarily need to be drinking tonnes of water, but if you are drinking non caffeinated herbal teas (yes green tea contains caffeine), bone broths or consuming more soups than usual, then your fluid intake may be fine with just a couple of glasses of water (but be mindful of too much salt in soups/broths).
But if its more tea/coffee or alcohol, then be mindful that you will need to drink more water. Or better yet, reduce these down by including herbals teas or perhaps just hot water. Hot water is a great way to get water in while it's cold weather.
How much do you drink? What do you drink?

I work a lot with gut health.
World Microbiome Day is tomorrow 27 June.
To celebrate and in true style - my favourite gut loving food that supports a healthy microbiome is cacao!!
This polyphenol rich food is also like a prebiotic food and has been shown to enhance the growth of bifidobacterium bacteria (good bacteria for our gut microbiome).
Daily consumption you say!? Yes please!

Last weekend I had the honour of facilitating my friend Brittany's blessingway (similar to a baby shower but more in honour of mum to be). I led a cord ceremony and also a guided meditation. A beautiful relaxing afternoon for mum to be and for all the mothers that attended.

More on Vitamin D...
Did you know that if you use sunscreen it blocks the ultraviolet light, which gets converted to vitamin D.
So try to have at least 10-20 minutes of sun exposure before applying your sunscreen, so that you can keep your vitamin D levels optimal.
Today is the start of my Winter Detox program.
You don't have to start this program today as I am running it from today to 30 September for the discounted price.
Who is going to join up and do my 4 Week Winter Detox?
Everyone that has ever done any of my detox programs have all said "It's a great reset!". Do you need a reset?

Now the mornings have started to become cooler, have you changed what you eat for breakfast?
Do you usually have cold breakfasts, smoothies or just grab a piece of toast?
Are you reaching for warm cooked meals?
Would love to hear if your breakfast choices change with the weather?!
I have been making these gummies for my boys for years!
They are great because they mostly are gelatin, which is good for many factors eg amino acids such as collagen, gut health, good hair, skin and nails etc.
I also sneak in some immune support into mine specific for my boys. Gummies can be a great way for kids (and adults) to take their vitamins.
They love them and get so excited when I make a batch (think they think they are lollies).
Have you made gummies?
Click love on this post and I'll post up my tried and tested recipe!

This week is Natural Medicine Week.
Natural Medicine Week, 20 – 26 May 2024, is a week long celebration of online events and education aimed to raise awareness of the important role natural medicine practitioners play in the health and wellbeing of Australians.
Celebrating all natural medicine practitioners in Australia!
Includes all modalities not just nutrition.
Naturopathy, homeopathy, remedial massage, kinesiology, Chinese herbal medicine, acupuncture, western herbal medicine, aromatherapy, Bowen therapy, ayurveda, chiropractic, hypnotherapy, osteopathy, reflexology. The list goes on.
What natural therapy modalities do you use in your health journey?
I have included all of these modalities in my health journey. But to be honest, I haven't tried Bowen therapy but have thought about it for years. Now is the time to see what this is like.
Is now the time for you to try a new modality or revisit one that has helped you in the past?
Did you know you can't absorb Vitamin D from the sun by it coming through your house or car window?
Unfortunately the sunlight can't be converted to vitamin D in the body through the glass regardless of it's tinted or not!
Direct sunlight is the way! Most people only need around 10 minutes of sunlight per day. More in winter! But try to get out doors as much as you can in nature, not just for your daily vitamin D boost, but also because nature is this magical way of making you feel good!
