Australia announces major visa updates to attract students, skilled migrants On 18 January, Immigration Minister Alex Hawke announced visa flexibility for Skilled Regional Provisional (Subclass 489, 491 and 494) visas and changes to entry rules for current and former Temporary Graduate (subclass 485) visa holders.

QUEENSLAND BORDER UPDATE

📢 From 1am Saturday 22 January, overseas travellers who are fully vaccinated can enter Queensland without needing to quarantine ✈️. Only a negative COVID-19 RAT is needed within 24 hours of arriving.

🏨 Anyone who isn't vaccinated will need to quarantine on arrival for 14 days in government-arranged accommodation.

Although we haven't reached 90% double dosed yet, it's important to set a time and date to give airlines and incoming travellers certainty.

Once in Queensland, everyone will still need proof of vaccination to visit events and venues ✅.

Australia’s international borders will be reopened to eligible visa holders from 1 December after being locked out for almost two years due to the pandemic.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison on Monday announced eligible, fully-vaccinated visa holders will no longer be required to secure a government exemption to travel into the country.
Those eligible for the rule change will include skilled migrants, international students, humanitarian as well as working holiday maker and provisional family visa holders.
Mr Morrison said their return marked an “important step” forward in Australia’s recovery.
“The return of skilled workers and students to Australia is a major milestone in our pathway back,” he told reporters.
The federal government has estimated 200,000 migrants holding these visas are expected to take up the offer between December and January.
