A build we completed in 2021 has been entered into the Greater Brisbane Region Awards under the Residential Architecture – Houses (New) Category.
To date this project was the most challenging project we have had to deal with. Unfortunately, the pandemic hit at the start of the project, and we had lockdowns, material shortages & delays, labour shortages & delays, huge material price increases and over 230 changes to documentation during construction.
However, the team did an amazing job and stood up to the challenge, and we couldn’t be prouder. Without their attention to detail and craftsmanship this house would not have been executed to the high level that it has been.
To all the bluebird team, contractors, and suppliers thank you for all the work you did on this project.

When to engage a builder? This a is a question we hear a lot and one that we believe is not done early enough. The Traditional model is generally going and finding an architect/ building designer whose style you like and then start the design phase before chatting to a builder generally. This commonly leads to designs not aligning with budget as the builder hasn’t been involved to provide feedback on costing or buildability.

The 4 phases of the build process - Stage 04 - Construction
This is the last stage of the 4 phases of the build process. This is where the fun begins, and you get to see your project come to life. If you have done the previous 3 stages correctly this stage will be a breeze. We discuss variations, site meetings and the process throughout the build.

What presents as a traditional colonial gable at the front of the house, seamlessly blends old and new architecture to transition to a more modern hidden oasis at the rear of the home.
All good things must come to an end. Our team is looking forward to finishing this project with only a few weeks to go until completion.

And just like that, we are halfway through April 2022.
All sites are humming along, with a couple new projects commencing earthworks this week. We have been lucky with a good run of weather, and hopefully this continues for a few more weeks.
Bluebird HQ is still in a holding pattern as we wait for the insurers to do their thing and the roof to be repaired, however the design team has been doing a great job working from home and keeping on top of things.
