The Crusader tug is in the halls, currently in the midst of hull restorations. In some cases, small fixes reveal bigger problems, and this seemingly small patch-up has become a suddenly important! But it’s all in a day’s work for tug boat docking here at The Yard Brisbane!

NEW BUILD - Kanyini by CMA at The Yard Brisbane. CMA are busily churning out boats and Kanyini is their latest new build. This cute little outboard powered tourist cat is bound for Magnetic Island for . Kanyini is named after a whale that frequents Magnetic Island and means "for the love of all creation".

Here is RL Marine’s new CNC Vertical Machining Centre - 3 axis with a Fanuc controller. The part that is being machined is a 10”-12” cast LG2 exhaust mixer. These exhaust mixers will be installed and travelling to the Great Barrier Reef daily on the vessel “Main Event”.

Public holiday!

Vida is an Iliad Luxury Power Catamaran, she is a 44feet long or 13m and is the new generation of popular power cats.

Catamarans are exploding in popularity all around the world and we are lucky enough to lift lots of them here at TYB. Our large 13m beam in our lifting bay gives skippers new and experienced lots of comfort when coming in for a lift with us.

Vida is here for some routine maintenance including servicing the IPS Drives and electrical repairs and upgrades. These works are being under taken by RL Marine, JSA Marine and Moore Marine.

it is always a treat having the opportunity to welcome vessels such as Vida, she’s definitely a stunning Catamaran and we hope to see more Iliad Catamarans here in 2024.

We're settling in nicely to our new premises at The Yard Brisbane with the new workshop having a nice flow from fabrication, machining, to production. See below snapshot of this week's production line dedicated to our Isuzu powered marine generators.

Straight Shooter!

You may have recognised this one, she’s a regular here at TYB. Owned by 4 Seas Wholesale seafood from Mooloolaba and purpose built long line work horse. She has an identical sister called Sharp Shooter.

They both shoot through our sea’s working hard up and down our coast. Straight Shooters works included; aluminium repairs, sand blasting the wheel house and decks as well as general repairs and maintenance and the usual antifoul preparation and application.

It is always great to see our returning customers such as 4 Seas come back to us, it means a lot to us here at The Yard Brisbane

MY Storm is a striking motoryacht built in Italy by Cantiere Delle Marche. She has returned to the water after a 3 month stay with us.

She has been with us while her owners took some time out from cruising and her works included; hull repairs and antifoul, stabiliser servicing, valve and hydraulic servicing, caterpillar main engine servicing and hull paint touch ups.

We also organised for the tender to be repaired.

It was a pleasure having storm and crew here at The Yard Brisbane and we wish her well for her next passage to Indonesia.

Carlo 2 is the newest vessel in the Carlo Fishing Charters fleet!

They run charters to the middle and northern areas of the Swain Reefs, but also venture as far as Gladstone, the Whitsunday Isles, Thursday Island, the Kimberly and more!

Calro 2’s works for this docking include; hull preparation and paint, crane service and general repairs all done by our onsite tenants RL Marine Pty Ltd, Harrap Marine Industries as well as the crew from Carlo 2!

It was great to see the Carlo 2 team here again and we wish her safe travels and much success for her 2024 charters.

Faucon is heading back to work!
She looks amazing after her makeover done by the skilled hands of Gt Mac Industries and RL Marine Pty Ltd!

Freshly out of her rejuvenation she is ready to head back to work on the east coast of Queensland!

Welcome home Alive! 🌊

The 66ft Reichel Pugh designed mini-maxi is pound-for-pound, considered by many as one of the best racing yachts in the world.

Fresh off her nail-biting victory in the 2023 Sydney to Hobart, her second win in 5 years, she is back here in TYB for some maintenance before racing this years Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race, starting on Good Friday.

Noire is a Cure Marine 70. A futuristic carbon racing/cruising catamaran with a design brief to “cross oceans with speed and comfort…”

Noire was built in Coolum on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland and was finished off here at The Yard Brisbane where the mast was stepped and final rigging completed.

She has been turning heads here this week at TYB with her incredible angles, carbon colouring and striking design.

She will undergo some final testing and fine tuning and compete in the 2024 Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race at the end of the month.

We are grateful to owners representative Mark Edmonds for trusting us with this incredible vessel and we look forward to seeing her back here again soon.

International women’s day! 💜🩷

Today, we celebrate women internationally and here at The Yard Brisbane we particularly celebrate women in the marine industry. We are fortunate enough to have strong, passionate women who work at The Yard Brisbane, including, our CEO Julie Cook who shows what it truly means to be a woman in leadership in the marine industry everyday.

Julie has been working in the Marine industry for 20+ years, and has risen to a position of leadership through hard work, tenacity and the enjoyment of working in teams! Joining Julie in her endeavours at The Yard Brisbane is a strong supportive team of like minded women including Kellie Bain our loyal and dedicated accounting and administration manager who has been with us for 8 years, Caitlyn Alexander kicking goals in marketing, Penny Gode our new Financial Accountant who is already forging ahead with systems and processes and Crystal Hayes our happily driven and newest recruit to our Accounting and HR team.

Although the marine industry is an undoubtedly diverse one, women are welcomed and appreciated at The Yard Brisbane. We are proud to have an inclusive working environment here at TYB. Happy International Womens Day to all our female colleagues in the Marine Industry.

Eagle 2 is a Cheoy Lee 48 Sportfisher in for a refit with us here at The Yard Brisbane.

Part of the refit scope includes fabrication of fibreglass foils to improve performance. The owner is an engineer and has designed the foils himself to improve speed, hull attitude under way and efficiency.

The modifications made to the fly bridge and cockpit are include a fully enclosed flybridge and hardtop over the aft cockpit area. The boat has had fibreglass repairs and has been faired and painted and now looks a treat.

Storm Bird!

Look closely at this little beauty and you will see a truly lovely timber sharpie hull. This is Storm Bird and she was rescued by Will and Danny from Prawn Star to carry on the next phase of her career. She is 16.19m timber prawn trawler and has a draft of 1.9m. She also originally had a GM8V71 Diesel Engine and was built by Des Everson in Yamba.

Now a star in the prawn star fleet. She is a crowd favourite at Mooloolaba. Following a recent mishap she is now being cared for by our shipwrights and made ready to go back to sea and home to Mooloolaba.

A Big thank you to Will and Danny for trusting us with their ship.

Returned back to the water recently this week!

You may of seen her be lifted out of the water late last year and to see the difference from then to now is incredible!

It was a great project to work on here at TYB, we love working on tug boats and this was a great opportunity to be able to do this for Engage Towage!

This is the 6th tug from Engage Towage here at The Yard Brisbane in the last 12 months and we are proud of our working relationship and grateful for the opportunity to assist!

It was great having her in at The Yard Brisbane!

Power Catamaran Catalina is a beautiful vessel that has arrived to us in the serene morning sun here in Brisbane today. She’s a vessel you simply cannot take your eyes off of!

Well known catamaran designer and boat builder Peter Brady (Brady Cats, Pathfinder Power Cats, Pacific Power Cats) designed this vessel with a design philosophy of ‘trans-ocean’ capability and efficiency.

Catalina’s scope of works with us includes fabrication of foils by Arnolds Fibreglass and other general maintenance items by our in house team and onsite marine tenants.

TSA and TYB – A great TEAM!

TYB wishes TSA Neptune farewell and safe travels for their journey back to Cairns! A special thanks to George the Chief Engineer and to Ross in WA for trusting us with their vessel. We very much look forward to seeing the TSA team again soon.

It was great to do their works this time round and we are looking forward to seeing her for the next visit!

Here we have Evie K!

Looking splendid in her striking green topsides and skippered by the legendary Bernie Bradley.
She's come in for a quick lift for some keel cooling pipe and propellor cleaning. Bernie was in the area and asked if he could haul out for a quick clean up and we were pleased to assist.

Evie is a steel prawn trawler that operates up and down the East Coast of Queensland. She's a vessel designed by Rick James, who's renowned for crafting over 150 of Australia’s most iconic vessels, including this one here.

We are pleased to be working with the Yachtsmiths team!!

It’s incredible to see their progress!

Blue fin!

Blue Fin is a 35m purpose built training vessel. Essentially she is a heavily built steel trawler weighing in at 502 Tonnes. Up until recently she was owned by the Australian Maritime College – University of Tasmania.

She has been used as a mobile classroom for many years and has been kept in superb condition by AMC. According to AMC’s website she has been used to rescue stranded Antarctic scientists from Macquarie Island and has conducted minesweeping trials for the RAN.

She is here at TYB under new ownership being readied for a trip across to Seattle USA. Works are being undertaken by our in house TYB trades and scope includes, repairs to steel plumbing, valves and pipework, replacement of the wear deck as well as new crane set up.

Bumblebee IV needs no introduction. ⚜️

A legend in offshore racing circles and a list of achievement as long as your arm.🤩

🌟TYB welcomes this pure pedigree offshore racer for a freshen up.

Some of Bumblebee IV’s achievements are outlined below for your reading pleasure:

⚡️Bumblebee IV is a German Frers designed Maxi designed and built for offshore racing.

⚡️She was built by Kelly & Haugh in Sydney, and launched in 1979.

⚡️She took the sailing world by storm by winning the Rolex Sydney to Hobart Race, Newport to Bermuda Race, Middle Sea Race as well the Maxi Worlds in Porto Cervo all within 12 months of her launch.

⚡️Following her success abroad, she was bought by the legendary Australian sailor Syd Fischer OAM where she was renamed Ragamuffin and went on to win the Sydney to Hobart two more times.

⚡️After retiring from racing in the mid-90’s, she transitioned into a day charter boat in the Whitsundays until 2013, when she returned to the racing scene under new ownership and a return to her original name.

⚡️Her resurgence saw her competing in prestigious events such as the Hamilton Island Race Weeks and the Sydney to Hobart races.
