What Is Anxious Attachment? Anxious attachment is a type of insecure relationship. Learn more about what causes it, what to expect, and more.
Stop measuring your self-worth based on how others treat you, if you are able to treat them right and they don’t treat you right, then what’s wrong with them! Sometimes we think it’s us when we are being mistreated by a lot of people, when all it means is that you are surrounding yourself with too many of the wrong people. Stop boosting their ego by allowing them to get away with putting you down and/or misleading you - that’s their main reason for doing it.

Managing Your Anxiety
When treating anxiety, you need to first control the symptoms. I use CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) to treat the triggers which are typically negative, irrational, overthinking, and/or catastrophic thinking. But before I start this treatment, I first work with my client to control their symptoms to prevent a panic attack. When they are able to keep their symptoms at the mild level, then I start working on addressing and correcting their negative thinking/ fear (the trigger). When their symptoms are too severe it is very difficult for them to take in the CBT treatment and implement it because their emotional state is too heightened to concentrate.
To keep their symptoms at a low level I educate them on the art of deep slow breathing in controlling the Central Nervous System. When you think negatively, worry or fear something, your breathing automatically changes to a shallow and fast pace, sometimes even holding your breathe. As soon as your breathing changes to this, your Central Nervous System (CNS) activates the Sympathetic Nervous System (the stress response). Once the stress response is activated, a huge amount of Adrenaline is dumped in your body ready to fight or run away from whatever you are fearful or worried about. If you were actually having to deal with a real threat (eg., a robbery) then that Adrenaline will help you to deal with that situation in the most effective and efficient way to survive. However, if your stress response is activated for something that you think might happen but doesn’t (ie., catastrophic thinking) then that Adrenaline will just sit in your system as it is not being dispensed. When that happens then you will experience the unpleasant symptoms commonly experienced during an anxiety/panic attack.
So, if you don’t want your brain to dump more Adrenaline then it needs, then you need to trick your CNS by changing your breathing pattern to a deep, slow pace. When you breathe as deeply as 6 Seconds in and out, then your CNS will activate the Rest/Recovery response instead of the Stress response. This should instead release endorphins, dopamine and serotonin, and not adrenaline. I would do deep, slow breathing from the time you wake up to the time you go to sleep. This will keep a nice supply of the feel good chemicals in your system and reduce your anxiety symptoms. But, even if you manage to keep your symptoms at a steady and consistent low level, you still need to work on your unhealthy thinking patterns if you want to live anxiety free.
