A DOG and THEIR DIET

A 1 1/2 year old Cavoodle(Charley) recently presented to me. She was in extreme pain and couldn’t be touched or picked up. She hadn’t eaten in days.

Her provisional diagnosis was a slipped disc and further testing (Cat Scan)was recommended and the possibility of surgery and a spinal tap was also discussed. A cost of up to $11000 was suggested.
The owner couldn’t afford this and started thinking her much loved Cavoodle would have to be put down.

As many of you know I’m both a Human and Animal Chiropractor. Out of my own interest I’ve also studied Nutrition for Animals.

My examination of Charley could find no issues with her spine but did find an inflamed pelvis and gut. I was able to do this using Applied Kinesiology principals which I’ve long used on humans.
I enquired about Charley’s diet and discovered she was being feed dog biscuits, tuna and toast.
Anyone who’s been to see me will know that I’m not a fan of any kibbles or dog biscuits. As for toast that’s a complete no no.
A dog is a carnivore it eats meat and veggies only. No rice, wheat or grain. It doesn’t have grinding teeth like a horse or cow.
As for dog biscuits or kibble, it has been discovered that the heating process that all kibble goes through creates what is known as “Millard reaction products” and these cause inflammation in a dog.
With some simple dietary changes and supporting supplements, Charley’s pain began to decrease she became completely pain free within a month.
The owner recently sent me these thoughts.
“I’m very grateful for Dr Keith he saved my dogs life. She is such a happy dog more than what she was before all this”
What did l do.
