Day 2 swavy curls still happy today! So soft and pretty, Karen wasn’t sure if she wanted to grow her hair longer or have a shorter style, she chose going shorter and she’s very happy with her choice. Sometimes longer means we tie it up more often, even though Karen still has that option now if needed. Love seeing these happy smiles💗

Deb thought she needed highlights in her hair today but on closer look and conversation we chose not to. Just shaped into a layered bob for her beautiful swavy curls. 🩶
Gorgeous result!

Karen booked a session with me a while ago and was thinking of transitioning to grey at that stage, then came a birthday and she chose to colour her hair again. I get it! Today she came 3 weeks after her colour, with her greys popping through already. We had a conversation and she chose to stay coloured a bit longer. To assist with that decision I chose to use a Milk shake - Australia Smoothie Demi in chocolate for her roots and lightened pieces throughout to break up the solid colour of the ends with a muted copper. Beautiful result that Karen was very happy with. Karen couldn’t get over how much curl was there as I understand being a fellow swavy curly.
I’m much more interested in helping people maintain colouring without permanent colour that leaves a demarcation line when a few weeks go by. Softening the regrowth area is a much better option after seeing how hard it is to grow out solid permanent colours. 🧡

From all the one length curls to layered and face framing for beautiful Candice today, stunning 💕

New softer shape for this lovely today. Rounded her edges and layered shorter on the interior, beautiful result🩶

New do’s for these lovely sisters this morning! I’ve been cutting Helen’s for a while now, from really long layered hair, to now a bob with fringe.
Her sister Margot chose to come as well after hearing that Helen was booked in when she was visiting her from Sydney. Margot had s shorter shaped bob and decided to go for a fringe as well. Very happy and cheeky with their new cuts.
Margot usually goes to Tara at Mousey Browns in Sydney for her styles, a fellow dry cutting specialist.🧡

My dear sister Jude, with her natural colour now, the other photo at her wedding 3 years ago. Both photos are lovely, but point is going natural doesn’t mean old. I’m thinking it’s soft and beautiful.😍

Some grey blending work for Bernadette today, after years of being her natural colour, she was tired of the depth in the ends of her hair. I added some foils that have softened the demarcation area of her hair. She also chose to have it trimmed all the one length and a bit shorter today. Beautiful 💚🩶

Ever since I’ve been helping people escape the 4-6 week colouring appointment process, I’ve been sharing how Permanent colour loses its tone after 6-8weeks and needs toning, recolouring to get back to where it was the day you chose to colour.
I didn’t realise how trapped clients have been, and also stylists. This post isn’t for anyone who loves to be coloured and happy to have very regular colour appointments. With so many of my people disenchanted by their regrowth, brassy mid lengths and ends, I’ve been working on trying new ways to enhance and blend so that clients can get a look that is longer lasting and more liveable, even helping with the $$$ they have been spending!
Below ⬇️ I’ve shared this from Instagram post to highlight what I’ve been banging on about with clients wanting more lasting results. I’m very happy to help get lasting results but it’s a complete paradigm shift for both client and myself! For years I’ve been on the vicious cycle of 4-6 week colouring without even a thought until 4 years ago when I wasn’t able to colour and what we were left with.
If your one who is stuck, I’m happy to work with you to achieve a result that is more liveable.
Please don’t comment if you are loving colouring regularly, this is for those who feel trapped by roots showing quickly, and faded or brassy ends.

Lush nearly dry curls after this lovely had a cut and hydration treatment lesson. Added more protein by using Remedy treatment due to health issues that strip hair of some of its natural goodness. Felt and looked amazing, I couldn’t wipe the smile off her face! ✂️🌿😋🧡

Day 2 for Glenys, relaxed, hydrated hair is the best way to encourage curls.
She’s very happy with the start of her process of bringing back good health and curls to her hair, maybe even not colouring any more! 🌸

Photos from WENZ HAIR's post 22/05/2024

Gracious Glenys drove from up behind Penguin for her first appointment with me a few weeks ago and I hadn’t put her in my book. Instead of being upset with me she said she loves a drive on her own and that her hair needed to grow out from last hair cut a tad more. Today we both were on the page!!
Glenys suffered with complete hair loss 2020 and her hair is still finding its groove. It grew back curly and lost a bit of curl as it got longer. We are on a journey to blend the top and the sides, but she was happy with her softer swavy look today. After having her hair texturised and chip cut previously, we needed to clean up the ends to encourage more curl.
Being a one woman show sometimes I slip up and in conversation with Glenys I realise she is that woman also. That’s why she was so gracious.
Women helping and understanding each other is essential in this world.🌸💗

Yesterday in our consultation before cutting, Ally was interested in trying a fringe. By using my cutting stick I could see how it would have drowned her face and hid her beauty so instead we did between cheek and chin length side bangs that definitely opened up her face. I suggested to Ally, who’s a busy mum of twins, that she could clip back her side fringe as well. This was last night, hair fully dry and looking beautiful 💗
Thanks Ally
Feedback helps us all!

This came today! Timely after my post yesterday.
The reason I like to train hairdressers about curls, such a missing in our field. It becomes an expensive visit for clients like this🙃

Photos from WENZ HAIR's post 21/05/2024

Ally chose to have layering around her face to take away some of the heaviness of her hair. After having her twin girls her hair and curls have changed, so she wanted to learn how to care for her hair and enjoy her curls. She’s never seen her hair like this, and it will be even better by the time I see her again in December.

Controversial I know, but while doing my hair today, I thought about what happens to most curlies on a visit to a salon is, their hair is washed, cut and they are offered to have it straightened as if it’s a gift!
I wonder if straight hair was offered to be permed after a haircut, how many would be happy and take up that offer? Possibly none or very few!
So the fact that curly textured hair clients feel like the stylist is saying ‘You’re hair is not beautiful because it’s not straight’ what sort of message is that sending?
Curlies are putting up with being told they are not enough as they are!
It’s not good enough that they are ignored by our industry. I’m obviously passionate about this but hearing stories like this every day from curlies and their visits to salons is disappointing to say the least!
I would love at least one person in each salon to be trained in helping curly textured clients, as 65 percent of the world’s population has a form of wave or curl. The maths isn’t adding up. This is not against the people who want their hair to be straight, just to be clear.
Okay I’m off my Soapbox till next time.

It’s such a pleasure to support people in creating a look that empowers and encourages self confidence and joy. The part that is difficult for hairdressers, as this post on Instagram states, no magical formula or style is going to do the job of transforming your look if you don’t like who you are.
Anyone that has been to me knows that this is important to me. I’m very happy to assist people to see what they haven’t been able to, but when it comes to 2nd or 3rd visit and they are still talking hate on their hair, nothing any hairdresser does will be enough, I’m not prepared to go further with them.
Please look kindly at yourself for what you like about You, everyone can tell me what they don’t like. We need to develop a healthy relationship with what we have, how we look and the style that helps us feel amazing.🙏✂️💗🌿

Sharon’s hair when she came for a restyle today compared to first visit last year. Sharon is enjoying her freedom of living with her curls rather than battling with her thick hair before learning CGM. Look at the amount of length she has since August!

Kaitlyn loving her new shape, she’s getting lots of compliments at college, I love the headband look💗

This lovely is visiting Tasmania for a wedding from Albany WA. She’s a low maintenance woman who very rarely gets her hair done, but she booked for a colour to correct the rusty colour of her last colour a while ago. I explained that only colouring now and then all the tone of her colour is gone and she’s left with the slightly lighter but rustier colour. Today I used Milk shake - Australia Cool Brunette shampoo as a slight colour refresh and the result was gorgeous. She sadly didn’t realise that coloured hair needs constant maintenance.

Rachel’s new look after her partner came a few weeks ago, she chose to book in as well. A few days into a broken ankle she hobbled in and this is her result. Longer swavy bob with cheeky side fringe.✂️🧡

Photos from WENZ HAIR's post 15/05/2024

Gorgeous working with Kaitlyn she loves her hair the bigger the better, most curlies are scared of big hair.
I had the freedom to do my first ever Cado cut that I’ve been wanting to do for ages now and we are both so so happy with the end result today. Before coming here Kaitlyn was asked in a shop if that was her own hair, then she said “you must hate it” I suggested she pop back in😂
I’m naming my version of Cado cut, Kaits Cado ✂️🌸

Gypsy’s two day formal hair🔥
Wow! Love those curls. Gypsy tried to get in for her grade 10 formal last year but I couldn’t fit her in, so she booked me well in advance this time to be able to wear her curls naturally. She loved her look and said her grandma will absolutely love seeing her wearing her curls.💗
