You may have high blood pressure and be unaware of it ❗
High blood pressure (hypertension) occurs when blood pressure is permanently higher than normal. It is commonly known as the 'Silent Killer', due to its lack of obvious signs or symptoms.
Over time, high blood pressure can increase your risk of having a heart attack or stroke. This is why it is imperative to schedule regular check-ups with your doctor to make sure you're keeping your blood pressure under control.
You can help lower blood pressure through:
🍏 Eating a healthier diet
💪 Maintaining a healthy weight and being physically active
✅ Managing blood cholesterol
🚫 Being smoke-free
🧠 Looking after your mental health
🍷 Limiting alcohol

Do you know how beneficial walking is?
Walking is a great way to improve or maintain your overall health.
Just 30 minutes every day can increase cardiovascular fitness, strengthen bones, reduce excess body fat, and boost muscle power and endurance.
You carry your own body weight when you walk. This is known as weight-bearing exercise. Some of the benefits include:
❇️Increased cardiovascular and pulmonary (heart and lung) fitness
❇️Reduced risk of heart disease and stroke
❇️Improved management of conditions such as hypertension (high blood pressure), high cholesterol, joint and muscular pain or stiffness, and diabetes
❇️Stronger bones and improved balance
❇️Increased muscle strength and endurance
❇️Reduced body fat.
So why not get out and start seeing the benefits of what walking can do!
Ways to keep your daily walk interesting include:
If you want to stick close to home and limit your walking to neighbourhood streets, pick different routes so you don’t get tired of seeing the same sights.
If you feel unsafe walking alone, find one or more friends or family members to walk with.
Walk at various times of the day. The sights to see first thing in the morning are bound to differ from those of the afternoon or early evening.
Drive to other reserves, park the car and enjoy the views while walking.
Explore what’s happening around you; notice the sky, the people, the sounds.
ThankYou! 💙💛💙

The impact of heart attack in Australia
A heart attack occurs when a major blood vessel or artery becomes blocked. When this happens, vital oxygen can no longer be fed to the heart muscle, and it begins to die.
The blockage is caused by a buildup of plaque or fatty deposits within the heart vessels. It is a condition commonly referred to as coronary heart disease.
In Australia, coronary heart disease is the leading cause of death.
Heart attacks are responsible for causing almost one in 20 deaths.
Twice as many men experience heart attacks compared to females.

Being aware of the signs of ovarian cancer could save your life.
February marks Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and with that comes the reminder to all women, no matter their age, to get a check-up if they feel something isn’t right. It is also a reminder to those women battling ovarian cancer that they aren’t alone.
Ovarian cancer is difficult to detect as its symptoms are vague and often mistaken for other illnesses.
More than 1000 women will die from ovarian cancer this year alone but that number could be reduced if women knew what to look out for.
The most common symptoms are:
* Bloating
* Pelvic or abdominal (belly) pain
* Trouble eating or feeling full quickly
* Urinary symptoms such as urgency (always feeling like you have to go) or frequency (having to go often)
Our best advice is to take action, not chances. See your doctor immediately if you experience any changes in regards to the symptoms listed above. Because early detection is perhaps the key component of beating ovarian cancer, any effort toward that is time well spent.
Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month is the perfect time to check in with yourself, friends and family to make sure everyone knows that facts.

Your skin is made up of many different types of cells. When the DNA inside these cells becomes damaged, they can become cancerous.
The three most common types of skin cancer are, in order from most to least: basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma. While these make up most of the cases, there are other, rarer forms of cancer that can also affect the skin.
No matter what kind, skin cancer should be diagnosed and treated quickly to avoid complications.
Melanoma
* Most dangerous
* Can spread
* Has no symptoms
Melanoma is the most dangerous type of skin cancer. If not caught and treated early, it can spread to other parts of the body and be fatal. It may appear in a mole or a dark spot or on clear skin. Usually it appears on parts of the body that are exposed to the sun, however, it may appear in areas where there is no or very little sun exposure.
Nodular melanoma is an especially rare type of skin cancer that is almost fatal. It appears as a new small round lump. It may be pink, red, black or brown in colour. It grows very quickly and can become life threatening in six to eight weeks.
Melanoma often has no symptoms, so it is very important to have regular checks. If caught early the cure rate is very high, but if caught late the cure rate drops significantly.
Squamous Cell Carcinoma
* Second most common
* Can grow and spread quickly
* A red scaly spot that doesn’t heal
Squamous cell carcinoma is the second most common skin cancer and can grow quickly within a few weeks or months. It accounts for about 30% of non-melanoma skin cancers. It is not as dangerous as melanoma but can spread to other parts of the body if not treated. It usually appears where the skin is exposed to the sun – head, ears, lips, neck, arms and legs. SCC on lips and ears are the most dangerous in terms of spreading. It usually appears as a thick red scaly spot that doesn’t heal.
Basal Cell Carcinoma
* The most common
* The least dangerous
* Grows slowly
The most common skin cancer accounts for about 70% of non-melanoma skin cancers. It is also the least dangerous. It usually appears as a lump or scaly area, originating in the top layer of the skin. It grows slowly. It could be red, pale or pearly coloured and is usually found on the face, nose, ears, neck, shoulders and back, however it could appear anywhere on the body. Sometimes it ulcerates or presents as a sore that doesn’t heal properly. Usually it can be easily treatable.
