Bittersweet today as we farewell Maria and welcome our new pod Andrew.

We thank Maria for her skill, expertise and lovely patient care during her short time with us. We wish her all the best in her next adventure and she knows she's always welcome back!

Thankfully we've unearthed another lovely human in Andrew, who brings his biomechanical expertise and kind and caring nature to our team. You can meet Andrew on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Our website will be down for the weekend as we work on some upgrades.

Strengthening Exercise #4 - Snow Angels 👼
Lucky last and a bit of fun! This one is great for building your gluteal, groin, quads, and hamstring muscles - all really important for holding your leg stable as you move about.

Beginners can start by laying on their back on a bed and simply sliding one straight leg out to the side and back.

For balance when standing, rest against a wall. As always, move slow and controlled and feel that b***y 🍑 burn!

Foot exercise #3 🎱

This one's more of a massage, great for relieving some tension in your arch muscles (and calves, and glutes, anywhere really).

Essentially just rest the ball onto the floor or a wall, and lean the muscle that needs some love onto it, rolling back and forth trying to follow the length of the muscle.

Repeat this as often as you like. Remember, there's no substitute for support and strengthening as well!

Thursday 14th of September is R U OK? Day. Sometimes people won't ask how someone is feeling because they're worried they don't have the tools to help. With the time that have in a consult, our podiatrists can get a good grasp of how our patients are really feeling, and we take our role in promoting good mental health very seriously. Foot Exercise #2

This one's great for improving balance ⚖️. If you're a beginner, start with holding onto the wall. When that gets easy, challenge yourself by closing your eyes for a few seconds. Then add some slow heel raises.
🔥 Feel the burn in those calf muscles!

Super Home Exercise #1 💪⁠
All you need is a thick face towel and this strengthening exercise can be done anywhere. ⁠
The idea is to help coordinate and strengthen the small intrinsic muscles we have that support our toes, as well as help improve your balance⚖️

Sorry about the weird photo! But it is an abstract representation of how important it is to maintain strong and flexible feet.

Each foot has over a dozen individual muscles that helps maintain your arch, move your toes, and keep your balance. Not to mention all the shin and calf muscles that insert into your foot joints.

So for the month of September we'll be showing you some simple exercises you can do at home to keep you strong and stable.

On Sunday Bronwyn completed a half marathon in the annual Run Marathon event. As a testament to her crazy training and discipline (ask her what time she trains every morning), Bron knocked off a speedy 4 minutes from her previous time.
