The Front Row Crew - bonded by their love of being pole position in the front row of classes, have been members at the Abbotsford studio for a total of 24 years between them - some dating back to the very very very beginning when I had little to no idea what I was doing.

They even created a little local social group by the same name and caught up often outside of the studio.

They followed us online into the depths of hell and back, showing up for themselves, rolling out their mats wherever they could and wherever the yoga took them, whoever was teaching.

Between them they’ve practiced 2,388 (not a typo) classes in the studio - not even including all the classes they did online during the 18 odd months we were closed.

Connections, lifelong friendships like these and the love and dedication for the practice of yoga born at Kindred make me incredibly grateful for the time we had together rather than dwell on what will no longer be (although it’s tempting) - the spirit of Kindred will undoubtedly live on

To our beautiful community,

It is with immense sadness that I announce the closure of both the Richmond and Abbotsford studios from Friday 21 October.

In part due to the realities of small biz in a post-Covid world, but largely due to a great deal of personal burnout combined with circumstances with our Richmond landlord that were out of my control .

I know this will feel like a monumental loss for many of you and for that I can't help but feel like I've let you down, although I know you will not feel that way.

Words will never be enough to express my gratitude to our absolutely phenomenal teaching faculty and every student who has walked through the doors over the last 7 years - it has been an experience beyond my wildest dreams and one I'll cherish forever.

As a community your support, encouragement and sense of togetherness was really the cornerstone of the magic at Kindred and I'm filled with pride and gratitude when I reflect on what we created together.

Despite this not being the ending I hoped for, I know the learnings & friendships forged within the walls of Kindred will live on forever in each of you.

Please read below for further information and let us know if you have any questions - keeping in mind it will be a busy time administratively, but we will definitely get back to you.

Amy see Pilates as a broad movement library with endless opportunity for creative programming. It can be characterised by sequences of exercise that are joined together seamlessly. This style encourages students to find a flow state within their session. Pilates combines both strength & stretch to create fantastic moments of challenge & relaxation thereby delivering a feel-good, wholesome workout.

HANDS ON ADJUSTMENTS 👐🏼 In the next few weeks we'll be re-introducing hands-on assists for those requesting them.

Hands-on assists can be likened to the use of props whereby they can help you experience stability, alignment and expansion in the body. They are often used by teachers as a teaching tool along with verbal cues to assist you in your practice and involve hands-on contact (with consent from you - the student).

🟤 You'll see permission tokens with a 'yes please' and 'no thank you' option at both Richmond and Abbotsford studios - please grab one each time for your mat.

✋🏼 Boundaries and choice are important in a yoga class, and this is a way of ensuring you feel safe and that your boundaries are respected. Not everyone likes or wants to be physically touched which is totally fine.

✋🏼 No token? We'll assume this to be a no thank you.

KAT & MANDY 👯 Join Kat & Mandy for a flow at our Richmond studio over the next two weekends!

Like PB and Jam these two are a couple of must haves to add to your morning. If you haven't had the pleasure of joining them for a class, Kat will bring you the 🔥 and spice through the asana (postures), but wrapped in teachings that bring balance, and guide you inwards. Mandy teaches with a fluidity and playfulness like no other 🤸🏽 that guides you back to self with ease. Kat & Mandy's classes are always coupled with a banging playlist to tune in deep and flow freely!

MEET AMY👋🏼 Bright, bubbly and bursting with energy. We are excited to introduce our pilates teacher Amy. She has such a warmth about her we just know you'll love her classes.

Amy wants her students to feel a sense of freedom, and encourages her students to explore their body without worry or criticism.

You'll find her at Abbotsford for Warm Mat Pilates, practiced in residual heat at a snuggly 23degrees. Beginners are most welcome!

MEET AMELIA 🏋🏻‍♀️ Another legend to join our teaching crew! Amelia was first introduced to yoga in 2012 and her adoration and curiosity for the practice has only grown.

Currently studying Naturopathy, she weaves a holistic approach through her teaching, and is fascinated by movement as a therapeutic and felt experience.

You can expect an embodied, dynamic, and playful practice, with an emphasis on intuitive movement and exploration wrapped in an inclusive and welcoming approach. 👐

Her love of movement began at the age of 5 when she first started practicing martial arts. She's also a black belt in Taekwondo!

Find her Friday mornings and Sunday afternoons at both studios from August.

A creative soul, Dhini has been teaching since 2016 and has 500+ hours of training under her belt including experience not only in Vinyasa but Yin & Restorative Yoga & Meditation.
