💤Admissions are available for support with infant sleep, settling, and feeding difficulties, as well as adjusting to parenting, exhaustion and other general mental health concerns.

We’re delighted to welcome Suzy McLean as General Manager for La Trobe and Northpark Private Hospitals.

Suzy started her career in nursing, training in Intensive Care and Cardiothoracic specialities. She then completed post grad qualifications in corporate management and business administration.

For more than ten years Suzy has worked in executive teams for a number of private healthcare organisations on key brownfield developments, including Epworth, St Vincent’s, Warringal, Peninsula and Beleura Private hospitals.

Suzy joins us from Brunswick Private Hospital where she was CEO, leading the site through the challenges of COVID, and overseeing the enhancement of its services.

Suzy is delighted to join the Healthscope team. She is looking forward to using her expertise and experience to support and lead the reopening of La Trobe Private Hospital and the expansion of key services at Northpark Private Hospital.

Suzy is particularly excited about forging strong working partnerships with current and new staff and doctors at both hospitals she is looking forward to ensuring both hospitals are positioned to provide best in class patient care and building a strong team culture.

We’ve been busy at our Northpark Private Hospital in Bundoora finalising the redevelopment and expansion of our mental health services.

This week we welcomed the first patients into our Adult Psychiatry Unit.

Our expanded mental health service will include: 66 mental health beds, a dedicated older persons’ mental health unit, new group therapy areas, two Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) machines and new dining areas for patients.

Today is National Sorry Day. Every year on 26 May, National Sorry Day remembers and acknowledges the mistreatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who were forcibly removed from their families and communities, which we now know as ‘The Stolen Generations’.
The first National Sorry Day was held on 26 May 1998, one year after the Bringing Them Home report was tabled in Parliament. The Bringing Them Home report is a result of a Government Inquiry into the past policies which caused children to be removed from their families and communities in the 20th century.
In 2020 twenty-three years after the Bringing Them Home report and twelve years since the National Apology, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children were still 10.6 times more likely than non-Indigenous children to be removed from their families.

Northpark Private Hospital celebrates April Falls Day! It may be an amusing play on words, but the state-wide April Falls Day (Monday 3rd April) and April Falls Month are serious business. They are an annual campaign to raise awareness about the impact of falls and to promote the latest best practice falls prevention strategies.

• 37% of injury-related deaths are caused by falls
• 30% of 65's fall each year
• 23% reduction in falls with regular exercise

Better Balance for Fall Prevention goal for 2023 is to promote increasing physical activity for fall prevention, and improvement of life and social balance for better mental health.

It’s well known that poor balance and strength will affect a person’s mobility and put them at an increased risk of a fall. So by improving balance and strength, people can reduce their risk of falling and suffering a fall-related injury.

For optimal physical and mental health, it is recommended that all adults (regardless of age, health, or ability) to do 30-60min of physical activity most days. To prevent falls and maintain independence this should include exercise or activities that improve strength and balance.

Daffodil Day 25th August 2022

Cancer Council and those who are or have been affected by cancer, the daffodil represents hope for a cancer free future.

Today at Northpark Private Hospital we came together as a family and a community to raise funds for this cause. Thank you to our staff, visitors and all for purchasing daffodil pins. Our staff also wore a touch of yellow for a gold coin donation, will all proceeds going to cancer council.
