Living with pain? You're not alone. 1 in 5 Australians deal with daily pain. Navigating pain management is a complex journey.

National Pain Week is dedicated to improving chronic pain management, and our hospital 🏥 couldn’t be prouder to support this initiative. This year’s theme, “painchanger,” aims to reduce the barriers faced by those living with chronic pain.

Having the right treatment options and support services can be true pain changers. Start by talking to your GP 🩺. Understanding your pain and working closely with your doctor can change how you manage it. A specialist pain physician can also offer further support, using a blend of medical, psychological, and social strategies to restore balance and help manage pain more effectively.

Our hospital partners with pain management specialists to provide our local community with personalised, patient-centred care 💚. Visit our website for more information 👇

🚨 It's Time Out July at our Hospital! 🚨

Our facility is 100% committed to providing the highest standards of patient safety.

That's why our hospital team participates in an annual Time Out July event as a safety measure to make sure that our patients receive the proper checks before surgery.

A surgical "time-out" is the surgical team's short pause, just before incision, to run through a safety checklist, confirming that they are performing the correct procedure on the correct body part of the correct patient. Following the correct procedures prior to surgery prevents complications. 🏥✅

This simple exercise brings together our valued Doctors and dedicated operating teams. In recognition of their support, all Doctors participating in Time Out July receive a free round of coffee for their entire theatre team! ☕️

Pictured is Chief Medical Officer Dr Anthony Chambers, supporting TIme Out July 2024 for patient safety! 🌟

🌟 Today is R U OK? Day, and we're joining the movement to inspire and empower meaningful connections.

We all have a role to play in looking out for those we care about at home, and in the workplace. By taking a moment to ask, ‘R U OK?’ we can offer crucial support to someone who might be facing difficulties. This connection and support can make all the difference long before a crisis emerges.

Let’s make asking R U OK? a part of our everyday relationships with friends, family, teammates, and colleagues, and remember these four simple steps🤝

1️⃣ Ask R U OK?
2️⃣ Listen
3️⃣ Encourage action
4️⃣ Check-in

You never know how impactful your words can be 💛

The Nexus Green Team - Nexus Hospitals 05/04/2023

Did you know that if healthcare was a country, it would be the 5th largest emitter of greenhouse gases on the planet?
And waste? Hospital waste is estimated at 5kg per patient per day, with 85% of this being non-clinical: no different to normal household waste.
We can do better, and we have launched the Nexus Green Team, committed to finding sustainable solutions – to reducing waste, choosing reusable and sustainable items where possible, and recycling.
We are excited about what we have achieved so far and are proud to announce that in 2022, we jumped to a 4-star GRESB rating, a sign of how making lots of small changes can add up to something big.
We invite you to get on board with us, and help create a sustainable healthcare system.

During World Glaucoma Week, we are reminded that glaucoma is the leading cause of irreversible vision loss in Australia. At least 1 in 50 Australians will develop the condition in their lifetime. Often referred to as “The Sneak Thief of Sight, Glaucoma typically exhibits no symptoms during its early stages, with over 50% of individuals with the condition unaware that they have it. Unfortunately, by the time glaucoma is diagnosed, it is often too late to reverse the permanent loss of vision that has already occurred.

While this vision loss cannot be restored, early, diagnosis and treatment can significantly delay the progression of the disease. We encourage everyone to take the time to book an appointment for a check-up with their optometrist during World Glaucoma Week. Let's prioritise our eye health and raise awareness about the importance of early detection and treatment.
