The annual Interschool Gymnastics event was held at Knox Gymnastics' impressive new venue.
Seventeen primary and eighteen secondary schools were represented by a cohort of 632 students on the competition floor.
Athletes eager to compete created a fun and supportive atmosphere.
We extend a huge thank you to all the athletes, coaches, school support staff, judges, and parents who played an integral role in making the 2024 Interschool Gymnastics competition a resounding success!

Take the first step in your judging career with a Beginner WAG judging accreditation in 2024. This course will help you gain the foundational knowledge needed to judge Women's Artistic Gymnastics at club and state events. Expand your skills and prepare to judge at higher levels of competition!

Aeroschools 2024 ๐
The 2024 Victorian Aeroschools Championships at Community Bank Stadium in Diamond Creek was a spectacular event! Over two big days of competition, 23 schools from across Victoria wowed the audience with 356 stunning routines, showcasing their skills, teamwork and sportsmanship.
โAeroschools is always an amazing celebration of movement and team work through Aerobic gymnastics. It was great to see not only new schools getting involved, with the number of participants in existing schools program increasing year after year. Australia is sending six incredible gymnasts to Paris, ready to dazzle in both individual and group events. To get you in the zone, weโve crafted a beginnerโs guide to Rhythmic Gymnastics, now live on our website!

Gymnastics Victoria is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Lucy Fyfield as Interim CEO. Lucy brings 25 years of leadership and expertise in gymnastics and business, having held significant roles in business advisory, consultancy, and board governance.
To assume this role, Lucy will step down from her positions as Director and Deputy Chair of the Gymnastics Victoria Board and transition from her operational role at Melbourne Gymnastics Club. Her focus will now be on leading Gymnastics Victoria.
Lucy will drive the implementation of the strategic plan for Victoria, which aligns with the national gymnastics strategy, and will work closely with the board, staff, and members to enhance services and opportunities. She will also collaborate with Gymnastics Australia to identify further alignment and cooperation.
Bronwyn Gilmore, Chair of the Gymnastics Victoria Board, expressed: โThe Board looks forward to continue working with Lucy and the skills that Lucy will bring to further strengthen our relationships with member clubs and Gymnastics Australia.โ
Lucy Fyfield commented: โIt is an honour to be supporting our sport into a new phase, providing consistency and transparency amongst our members and stakeholders. I look forward to supporting further unity amongst our state and nation providing stability and connection across our sport.โ
Lucy will officially commence her role in late August.
As Australia's record-breaking Olympic Gymnastics team takes the stage in Paris, we're spotlighting the clubs that support their journey. Next up is Cheltenham Youth Club, home to around 1,000 members including standout gymnasts Brock Batty and Kate McDonald.

From backyard flips to Olympic dreams!
Brock Batty's love for trampoline began at home, learning new tricks from YouTube. Recognizing his talent, his mom enrolled him at Cheltenham Youth Club (C*C), where his skills soon outgrew the ceilings.
His dedication paid off at the 2022 World Championships in Birmingham, becoming the Under 17 world champion, and recently clinching the senior national title at the Australian Gymnastics Championships.
With coaches Danny and Sarah at C*C, and backing from the Sport Australia Hall of Fame Scholarship and Mentoring Program, Brock's journey is bolstered by a strong support network.
Brock focuses on perfecting his routines and embracing the Olympic experience. His family, along with all of Australia, will be cheering him on!

Victoria, youโre waking up to a historic moment โจ
At just 17, Ruby Pass, has become the youngest Australian to have competed in an Olympic All-Around Final since Victorian, Stephanie Moorhouse in 2004.
With a score of 53.798, she achieved a remarkable 13th place finish, the best result for an Australian since Beijing 2008.
"It's incredible, it feels a bit surreal at the moment," said Ruby reflecting on her competition.

What a journey. What a moment. What a team.
It was the night of nights as the Australian Womenโs Artistic Gymnastics Team left it all out on the competition floor in Paris.
Finishing in 10th with a final score of 158.964, the team missed out on qualification by the smallest of margins, only 0.533 points off eighth-place finishers, Romania.
โTenth in the world at the Olympic Games is something to be so proud of,โ said Emma Nedov.
Floor Exercise
The competition began with dual Olympian Emily Whitehead on the Floor, where she set a positive tone with a score of 12.733. Ruby Pass followed with the team's highest score of 12.866, and Emma Nedov contributed with a 12.333. The team's combined score of 37.932 was the 10th best in the event.
Vault
On Vault, Emily Whitehead scored 13.600, Ruby Pass averaged 13.350 from her two routines, and Breanna Scott added a solid 13.300. The teamโs total of 40.700 was the 9th best Vault score.
Uneven Bars
Challenges on Uneven Bars saw falls from both Emma Nedov and Emily Whitehead, but strong performances by Ruby Pass (13.900) and Kate McDonald (13.633) helped the team achieve a total of 40.299, placing them 8th on this apparatus.
Balance Beam
On the Balance Beam, Breanna Scott excelled with a score of 13.700, Ruby Pass added a 13.300, and Kate McDonald scored 13.033. Despite their efforts, the team's total of 40.033 placed them 9th in this event.
Individual Performances
Ruby, the youngest member of the team at just 17, secured her place in the womenโs Individual All-Around Final, finishing with a score of 53.866 to see her back in action later this week.
โI think I gave it my all today and thatโs the best I can do, so the finals will be about going out there and having fun," said Ruby Pass.
Breanna Scott was the closest to making an apparatus final, placing 12th on Beam with her score of 13.700. Emma Nedov, competing in the All-Around, placed 51st with a score of 50.099.
The Australian team displayed significant improvement and competitive spirit with performances that highlighted their potential for future competitions.
