It was wonderful to be able to demonstrate how FFV’s ongoing partnership has impacted the lives of the thousands of men and their families that visit our centre each year.

The PROSFIT programme supported by FFV has allowed us to develop our evidence-based exercise program for men with prostate cancer. Targeted exercise is a very effective way to manage side effects from treatment and is accessible to everyone at our centre.

Garry James, Chairman of Freemasons Foundation Victoria recently announced more than $800,000 in funding for projects that improve the lives and opportunities of Victorians.

RULE Prostate Cancer and the Australian Prostate Centre are proud recipients of part of this funding for PROSFIT, our evidence-based exercise program for men with prostate cancer. Prof Leonard G. Gomella, Chair of the Department of Urology, and director of the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center – Jefferson Health. A leader in the area of genetic testing in he was Co-Chair of the Philadelphia Prostate Cancer International Consensus. Men with known BRCA1/2 mutations or DNA repair pathway gene mutations should consider being screened earlier than men in the general population, says Gomella. Currently, widespread genetic testing is not available in prostate cancer. However, men with a family history of hereditary breast, ovarian, or advanced prostate cancers should consider germline genetic testing.
