Happy Easter! 🍫🐣🐇🥕
Please note the rooms reopen at 8:30am on Tuesday, 11 April✌
Almost mid week, how's everyone going with the return to work in January? Off to a firing start, or ready to take a nap like little Matilda? 🩷👶
Either way, we hope it's been nice and are all adjusting well in 2023

It’s that time of year again 🎄🥳🎉
With the festive season upon us, the team at Dr Chris Russell's rooms are taking some time to recharge over the Christmas and New Year break – so the opening hours will look a little different during this time
The rooms will return to their regular operating hours on Tuesday, 3 January 2023
Best wishes for a happy holiday season!

Gorgeous baby Jude and big brother William 💙 a loving, tender moment between siblings. Hoping with the change to daylight savings that their parents weren't awoken too early this morning! 😊

UNDER THE MICROSCOPE | This video shows IntraCytoplasmic S***m Injection (ICSI) being performed in our lab. ICSI is an advanced technique that involves injecting a single s***m into an egg. It may be used as part of the IVF process to increase the chances of successful fertilisation.
For ICSI procedures, we use an incredibly powerful microscope that uses polarised light (the 'brightness' you can see in the video). This leading technology allows us to assess whether an egg is in optimal condition for fertilisation and to identify the best position to inject the s***m into the egg.
To learn more about ICSI, read this article from our blog: https://bit.ly/3PtDxbn

If you’re one of the 70% of women around child-bearing age currently using some form of contraception, you may be wondering, ‘can birth control affect my future fertility?', the short answer is no – most methods of contraception do not have any long-term effects on your ability to fall pregnant. However, it can be helpful to understand how different types of contraception affect your body, and how to plan ahead if you are ready to start trying to conceive
Check out the following blog https://drchrisrussell.com.au/omfg/falling-pregnant-post-pill-and-other-contraceptives/ to delve into contraceptive options, its use on fertility, falling pregnant and when to ask for help
The team are so lucky and appreciative to have such wonderful patients in Chris' care
We adore the rapport we build with patients, it honestly makes our jobs all the more rewarding
Thank you Alison for such a heartfelt review, the feeling is mutual

12 weeks of loving our son Ryan & welcoming him into our lives.
29.4.2021 - Five weeks early, he caught everyone off guard. 👶
I'm happy but at the same time feeling sad that the pregnancy & birth journey that I've taken with Dr Russell, midwife Jenny, the fantastic Admin team of Jan, Rachel, Donna & the whole team of nurses, Special Care Nursery staff & paediatricians at Epworth Freemasons has come to an end.
They've become like members of a 2nd family, & have all been amazingly supportive throughout my pregnancy, which had many many emotional ups and downs, including a diagnosis of gestational diabetes & a dose of Covid.
Dr Russell & his team always has his patients health & wellbeing at the forefront of his practice.
I've never felt more relaxed or as calm or at ease with a practitioner, no question is too silly to ask & no question is ever off limits, we explore alternatives, to discuss best outcomes for bub & myself.
My family & I will be forever grateful for all of the teams' involved for their care and support in assisting us to bring our bundle of joy safely into the world.
💙💙

Dr Chris Russell, one of Newlife IVF's founding doctors and fertility specialists, consulting at our East Melbourne clinic.
Chris prides himself on his approachable and inclusive bedside manner: “My aim is to make fertility simple and understandable for every patient. I really see fertility treatment as an alliance or democracy, where I decide very little, but arm my patients with the knowledge they need to inform their own path.”
To make an appointment with Chris, call (03) 8080 8933 or book online via our website.
This picture conveys how similar, but also how very different two siblings can be. Here's Val & younger sibling Flossie, these pics taken when each were 11 months old 👶🏻👶🏻
Saying goodbye can be hard for us at the rooms when the pregnancy care comes to an end, so lovely to be updated by mums long after their babies have been delivered by Chris 🥰

These may just look like delicious noodles, but they have a very sweet backstory 🍜
Recently Chris had a regular antenatal appointment with expectant parents and during consult, Chris and they discovered that dad's mum was a beloved midwife at the Mercy Hospital for Women who would regularly provide the night shift staff with her amazing noodles! For starters, how nice is that?! 🏥🌃
Secondly, look what turns up with the parents and their beautiful newborn at mum's six week check up? The generosity of this wonder(ful) woman and grandmother is infinite! 😮😍
Adding to the good vibes, one of the other doctors who works out of the suite walked past the kitchen and immediately recognised the noodles from their past night shift stints 😄 these noodles clearly made and continue to make a lasting impression!
Some lovely news to cap off the week 🥳

This is baby Freya with Newlife IVF fertility specialists Dr Sameer Jatkar and Dr Chris Russell. Sameer was mum's IVF specialist, and assisted Chris, who is also an obstetrician, at mum's caesarean. Freya is appropriately named – in Norse mythology, Freya was the goddess of love and fertility. ❤️

Thanks to everyone who didn’t go into labour this weekend and giving me the time to coach (assistant to Chris B) these champions to their first tournament win ever, and my first since 1991! Well done Scarlett Russell on some great performances and Ava K from our friends for the sweetest three I ever did see in the semi final.

There is no longer a requirement to get a weekly PCR test from 37 weeks onwards for patients and their partner or support person. We do however, encourage patients and their partner or support person to consider testing in the latter stages of pregnancy.
If you arrive at hospital in labour, you and your partner or support person will be given a Rapid Antigen Test by Epworth, on arrival, if you don’t have a test result within the last 72 hours.
All patients and their partner or support person being admitted for a booked elective caesarean, or an induced birth, are required to take a PCR test or a Rapid Antigen Test, no more than 72 hours before admission and preferably on day of admission.
